Description: Cafe Pamlico provides a world class casual fine dining experience through exceptional food, outstanding detail oriented service, an inspired wine and cocktail program, and gracious attentive Southern hospitality. Our contemporary coastal cuisine is driven by locally sourced seafood, meats, and produce. Our menu changes frequently in accordance with the fresh ingredients our chefs discover on the island, most notably the fresh local seafood we feature. We are committed to supporting local farmers and artisan food producers first, sustainable resources second, and organic third. Reservations are highly recommended.

We stayed on Hatteras Island for two weeks and ate meals out all three meals every day. The breakfast (3 courses!) and dinner service meals we at at Cafe Pamlico were the best by far. We even decided to have Chef Forrest and Cafe Pamlico cater our wedding. All of our quests commented on how flavorful and perfectly cooked their meals and our extensive set of appetizers were. Chef Forrest and staff had quick, very friendly service and accommodating. You won't be disappointed with anything on the menu and you can't beat the view of the Sound. It's stunning.

My husband and I shared an amazing anniversary dinner at the restaurant a few years ago -- so memorable and wonderful, that when our daughter announced that she wanted to be married on the beach in Avon NC ... we immediately thought of the restaurant. The bride and groom decided to have the meal catered to the house we were staying at. We live in MI so I was worried about trying to make arrangements so far away. EVERY SINGLE question, concern and idea was addressed and more. The event was incredible. ALL of our guests couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the food and service was. The catering team was magnificent!!!! I did not have a single worry -- not one. They truly exceeded all our expectations. It was a magical day and everything we'd hoped for. Each and every person that had a hand in this event, made this a celebration we will never forget.

We stopped here on a whim and were super impressed with the view. We were able to sit outside (they provide bug spray!) and though it's a limited menu, it's a good menu. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the crab cakes. Both meals were delicious and the only fault I could find was that the shrimp had their tails on. If you're interested in upscale, make this a stop.

Very pretty restaurant with good food, but extremely pricey for the quality. I have had better food at much cheaper locations. If you want a romantic evening out, though, it's the only place we could find on Hatteras with that sort of atmosphere.

We appreciate this guests feedback that we are a pretty restaurant with good food. We question, however, their comment that we are "extremely pricey". Our menu pricing is comparable to the handful of restaurants on the Outer Banks and on Hatteras Island that are in our peer group in terms of rankings and quality.

We understand that this guest may have had equal food at cheaper locations, but suggest that readers tie this observation into the reviewer's comment that, if you want a romantic evening out, Cafe Pamlico is the only place they found on Hatteras with the atmosphere and service which we provide.

Restaurants with comparable food, but lesser service, atmosphere, and location can assuredly charge less. Prime waterfront location, first class facilities, and exceptional service, come at a higher real estate and staffing cost than lesser locations, facilities, and service. Prime waterfront location and premium service requires more costly real estate, facility investment, and better trained, more experienced, more expensive staff. All of these must be reflected in menu pricing.

We stopped at Café Pamlico for a drink and to watch the sun set. The drinks were pricey but the view was spectacular and the service was superb.
