The coffee was hot & the "apple uglies" were good, but it wasn't as wonderful as anticipated. You should get there early, it does get extremely crowded.

Title says it all. Everything here is good. Appreciate the fair trade coffee, interesting breakfast sandwiches for those who need their protein, and the fascinating parade of people. Every time we go to Buxton the hero of the day is whoever gets up early and goes to the Orange Blossom for Uglies.

There will be a line out the door and into the parking lot, but it is worth it to stand in line. The bakery is only open till 11am, so rise and shine and get there before 9am. The bakery's number one delight is the Apple Uglies. We were placed on a waiting list just for this pastry.

We also order a BLT crossiant and a sausage burrito for breakfast and also while waiting for the ugly. Both were amazing. The crossiant was probably one of the best I have ever had. The burrito is probably what I will get the next time I visit. The salsa in the burrito could have been eaten with a spoon without anything else.

After about 25-minutes the uglies came out fresh, hot and glazed. They really are ugly, but they melt in your mouth. We could only eat about half of the ugly, but were happy to save some for the next day.

Best pastry I've ever eaten. Apple Uglies are to die for! They run out around 7:30am.

For well over a dozen years, my family has made it a tradition to get apple uglies once or twice for breakfast during our week long Outer Banks vacation. The bakery doesn't seem as busy as it has in the past; you used to have to reserve your Uglies the night before just to ensure that you could get them fresh the next morning! The pastries are best fresh while they are still warm and the glaze is still hardening. This year I thought they could have used more glaze, but the flavor is still great. Get there early in the morning to pick up some-perhaps you'll start a tradition for your family too!
