Description: We are a casual dining restaurant located on the Pamlico Sound in Buxton. We have been serving lunch and dinner on the Outer Banks for 18 years now, six in Hatteras until Hurricane Isabel took our building away, and then we blew up the road to Buxton for the last 12 years. At this time lunch is served daily 11:30-3, and dinner is served nightly at 5pm. All of our soups are homemade, we serve an assortment of fresh seafood daily, as well as sandwiches, steaks, ribs, and pastas. We have live music on the deck Thursday & Friday nights this summer. Hope to see you there!!

“DO NOT GET THE SCALLOPS”
Reviewed October 14, 2009

We went to the Sandbar & Grille last night for dinner. The waitress was very nice. However the food was another story. The scallops were absolutely terrible... in fact, this was one of the worst dinners I have ever had. They had a fishy taste, were very gritty and were soaking in a pool of white liquid on my plate. Extremely disappointed. Extremely over priced. The pulled pork sandwich got an "ok".

“Average.. Yeah Average.. But Good.”
Reviewed September 5, 2009

We drove over 1/2 hour from Salvo to go to the Sandbar & Grille. I can't say it was worth the drive but If we were staying closer we would visit this restaurant more often. The local art & craft shops made it worth the drive. The food was decent but not special. The service was better than expected. Plenty of great views of the sound to be had from the dining room. I can't say there is a family atmosphere due to the lack of separation between the bar and the dining area but it's not off the wall crazy either. Bottom Line = If you are hungry and driving by go ahead and stop. You won't be sorry...

“SEAFOOD BISQUE”
Reviewed August 31, 2009

Second year for returning to this quaint restaurant. The seafood bisque is soooo good, thick, creamy,a little spicy, and STOCKED full of seafood. A bowl of this and an appetizer of fresh fish bites (happened to be Tuna and Wahoo this night) is all you really need!!! The prime rib was not my husband's favorite(little too fatty and bland) but previously he had the pork chops which were excellent. Small game room downstairs helps the wait go quickly, the view is fantastic.

“Expect a bad eating out experience”
Reviewed August 28, 2009

The food was bad and the service was worse. This is a feed ‘em an get ‘em out fast tourist trap. If you want a baked potato that tastes like it was overcooked a week ago or carrots that were so dry and tasteless that even Food Lion would have thrown them out, then this is what you will get. The daily special - Tuna- was Ford Tough; and expensive to boot. The server was indignant when I told her that the food was bad. She should have taken it back and provided something edible. Do yourself a favor and find another place to eat, or better yet have yourself a barbecue on the beach.
