Description: We are a casual dining restaurant located on the Pamlico Sound in Buxton. We have been serving lunch and dinner on the Outer Banks for 18 years now, six in Hatteras until Hurricane Isabel took our building away, and then we blew up the road to Buxton for the last 12 years. At this time lunch is served daily 11:30-3, and dinner is served nightly at 5pm. All of our soups are homemade, we serve an assortment of fresh seafood daily, as well as sandwiches, steaks, ribs, and pastas. We have live music on the deck Thursday & Friday nights this summer. Hope to see you there!!

“Seafood Bisque - Should have got 2 bowls”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2014

We've been coming to OBX/Frisco for a few years and this year we decided to try Sandbar for dinner. Arrived at 5:00 on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty - got a great corner table overlooking the sound. Within the course of our meal, the place was jam packed and a wait.

Overall, the food was very good and service was quick - My wife got Crabcakes (they were tasty), I got Blackened Mahi-Mahi which was prepared just right and fresh/tasty as well. Kids got Fried Shrimp and the other one got a burger :-) Our waitress said the Caesar Salad was great, so we got that as a side, and she was right - (it was really large - could not eat it all!)

Her other recommendation was the Special of the Day - A Seafood Bisque with Crab, Shrimp, and Scallops. We decided to share a bowl as an appetizer. Well, the bowl was big, and the Bisque was so filling, it could have been an entree in itself. It was thick, creamy, lumpy with seafood, spicy, but not too spicy, dark flavor but not too dark - it was the best seafood bisque I have ever had.

Next time I'm back, I'm calling to see if its the special of the day, and getting a bowl of this and nothing else - simply great!

“Great lunch stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

We enjoyed eating here. The view is great of the Pamlico Sound and they have Gluten Free items, which is great for my wife who must eat Gluten Free. The place was very busy and is right on the sound.

“Awesome Crabcakes!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Crabcakes boast "no filler" and it's true. Lumps of backfin vs. claw meat make it delicious. If you want them broiled, don't forget to ask like I always do... even fried they're delicious. Good food and good view. Kids menu and Gameroom available to keep them busy. Full bar if you just want to hang out and have a drink.

“Nice lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I came here for lunch on our last day of vacation, we were staying in Frisco, so it was not a long drive at all. Got there around 1pm and were sat at a corner table, windows and lovely views on two sides of us. They have the BEST coconut shrimp we have ever had! The waitress accidentally brought us the order for the couple beside us (no big deal at all as we got a glimpse of their meals). She ordered the shrimp basket and he ordered the bbq sandwich on recommendation of the server. Both of their meals looked wonderful. We received our meals in a timely manner, we had just finished the coconut shrimp. My crabcake sandwich was really good and my husband enjoyed his fried trout sandwich. Their tartar sauce was delicious! We would give this 5 stars, however, we had an amazing experience at The Inn on Pamlico Sound which we gave 5 well deserved stars to, but this 4 star lunch was a great afternoon as well.

“nothing to rave about”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

The restaurant is up some very steep stairs which was the first part that we didn't like. The food was average nothing really to brag about. My husband said his blackened scallops were very good. Probably won't go back.
