Description: We are a casual dining restaurant located on the Pamlico Sound in Buxton. We have been serving lunch and dinner on the Outer Banks for 18 years now, six in Hatteras until Hurricane Isabel took our building away, and then we blew up the road to Buxton for the last 12 years. At this time lunch is served daily 11:30-3, and dinner is served nightly at 5pm. All of our soups are homemade, we serve an assortment of fresh seafood daily, as well as sandwiches, steaks, ribs, and pastas. We have live music on the deck Thursday & Friday nights this summer. Hope to see you there!!

“Relaxed atmosphere, great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

Based on mixed TA reviews we were not entirely sure what to expect. Main room was cozy and view of the sound was spectacular. Service was attentive and helpful. Started dinner by splitting a bowl of Hatteras clam chowder. If you have not had Hatteras-style chowder you owe it to yourself to try it when you're down here and Sandbar's is excellent, chock full of veggies and clams. Got an excellent (local) Carolina brewing sky blue ale which was a crisp, solid accompaniment to dinner. Which was also excellent. Wife got a Caesar salad with blackened tuna. Salad (with homemade dressing) was huge and tasty. Fried (very fresh) shrimp with big mound of really good mashed-o-tatoes for me. Had to pass on desert 'cause we were full. And glad we came!

“Better off with peanut butter sandwiches...”

The food was no very good. I had the scallops and they were cold and very gritty. It took almost 45 mins to get our food and the waitstaff was borderline rude. Would not recommend to anyone.

We like friendly service, views, and local seafood menu. Very kid friendly with downstairs game room.
Can be crowded on weekend

“Nothing Spectacular, Poor Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

I had heard decent things about the Sandbar, so we decided to try it. The waitress was not pleasant. I ordered a tuna steak and told her I wanted it pink in the middle. It came out fully cooked through, terrible being I paid almost $30 for it. I felt like our waitress was rushing us out too, as there were many waiting for tables. Not an enjoyable experience.
