“Much needed and most relaxing getaway ever!”
Reviewed December 12, 2017 for a stay in December 2017

My family and i spent a much needed short vacation just to get away from it all and spend some quality time together. This is the place for just that. My girls actually spent time without screens in there faces. This is our second time here and we will definitely be back as offten as possible. It snowed for an entire day! My girls havent seen that much snow in thier life.they had a blast! The cabin is perfect for a cozy get away.

“Overall great place but not in my opinion 5 star”

Beautiful valley and great place for dogs
The description of the house should clarify that you have to walk through one of the bedrooms to reach the only bathroom. Also one bedroom opens onto the kitchen and the second onto the sitting room and there are only curtains in the door ways, no doors so there is no privacy. So make sure you go with good friends or family!
It may sleep 6 but the kitchen table and house is just big enough for 3.
The hanging chairs on the deck were very comfortable with lovely views. The kitchen chairs were uncomfortable and not conducive to a long meal .

Coffee pot needs replacing as it took for ever to make coffee also would appreciate a cheese grater otherwise kitchen pretty well stocked.

Thank you to Chris up the road for explaining how to light gas fire!

“Perfect mountain vacation in a quaint town”
Reviewed October 23, 2017 for a stay in October 2017

I can't say enough positive things about my stay at Yancey Palace. The area is absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite things to do while I was there was sit on the back porch and take in the views. I fell in love with the cabin and with the town of Burnsville. Everyone was so kind, it is the picture perfect mountain town. We enjoyed beer at Blind Squirrel Brewery, visited the shops in their town center, ate lunch at Bubba's Good Eats, did some hiking on Mount Mitchell, drove the Blue Ridge Parkway, and saw Crabtree Falls. Our dogs loved exploring their expansive property. Annette was very personable and assured we had everything we needed for our stay. I can't wait to come back to this gem of a cabin. It is the perfect place to relax and decompress.

Yancey Palace set in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, is the perfect retreat to just unwind and relax. And boy it did not disappoint! The cabin was very clean, beautifully kept, with traditional furniture . Comfy bed and a lovely porch with swing like hammocks! The sound of the Brooke, the birds singing and a gentle breeze, with spectacular views that were more beautiful than the online photos could show! Rick and Annette the owners were perfect hosts, and had a lovely conversation with Annette who told us the origins of the cabin, and local information. We visited a few beauty spots all within an hours drive including Chimney Rock, Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, The Blue Ridge parkway and many other places. We spent one day just enjoying the cabin, taking in all the wildlife including a chipmunk busily gathering his stash for the winter. We saw deer at night, and even a flock of Indigo Buntings. I recommend this cabin and give it a try you will nit be disappointed!

“Best trip ever”

This was a motorcycle trip and the riding couldn't have been any better. The cabin was just what we were looking for, off the beaten path, no traffic, lots of privacy and peace and quiet. The owners, Rick and Annette, were extremely gracious hosts and very friendly. A short trip to Burnsville for anything needed such as groceries, sight seeing etc. Close to Mt. Mitchell, and if you need to visit the big city about 25 minutes to Asheville or Biltmore Estate. Definitely a place to return to.

“Perfect pet-friendly escape”
Reviewed September 6, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This is the second time I have stayed, and you would think that it being rainy and cold would have dampened our spirits during our stay, but once again, I never wanted to leave. My dogs had a wonderful time, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch, listening to the rain and wrapped up in a blanket drinking coffee. I love that there is little to no wi-fi, because you can truly decompress for a brief moment in time. It is a quick 50 minute drive to Grandfather Mountain and Linville Falls, and Mt. Mitchell is not far away as well. I plan to come back in October or November so that I can see the beauty of Autumn in this little paradise. I could not have asked for better hosts!
