The room and building were definitely dated, but the room was clean and for the price, not a bad deal. The continental breakfast wasn't bad either (waffles, couple cereals, oatmeal, juices, pastries). However, If you want the advertised 'free wi-fi', make sure you are not towards the end of either wing; we were 3 rooms from the exit and unable to receive any signal - actually picked up the Motel 6 signal next door (but they charge for their's). When we called the front desk, the guy was rude and offered no help whatsoever. Also, the pool was closed for the week - so be sure to ask about that before reserving. As others have said, the keys only worked if you swiped them a certain way, too slow or too fast forget about it, probably had to swipe on average 3 or 4 times at each door to gain access. The only reason we chose this hotel, is that it is one of just two in Burlington that we found that permit pets, and the other (Quality Inn) charged $25/pet which is high. If you are a no frills person on a tight budget w/pets, then choose this hotel, otherwise, go elsewhere. Can't say I'd stay there again unless we have to visit the area with our two dogs.

Room Tip: Choose a room closer to the front desk if you want/need wi-fi.

We went with the Econolodge because it's relatively close to Alamance Regional Hospital and reasonably priced, but from the second we got the room keys it was all downhill. First, our key cards (which were supposed to get us into the back hotel doors and our room door) weren't working. We had them exchanged for different keys, which also did not work, and by the third time we had them exchanged the keys would let us in about every fifth time we tried to open the door... We ended up changing out our keys every 6 hrs or so, and even had to use the maintenance key one night (which still did not always work because it was the reader on the door that was messed up). Why we were not offered a different room remains a mystery to me. Also, the room smelled rather strongly of mildew, which seemed to be coming from the carpet rather than the bedding or air conditioner. The only good thing I can say for this hotel is that they have two of the best and most friendly receptionists I have ever encountered (both of whom were very apologetic).

If the hotel's owner would invest in new key card readers, keys, and have the carpets professionally cleaned or replaced I'm sure this would be a great place to stay. As it is I would say it's worth about half of what they're charging.

We appreciate your willingness to express your experience with Econo Lodge in Burlington, NC. I must share the frustration you mentioned regarding promised accommodations, specifically outside electric outlets. Unfortunately this hotel was built in a time when exterior electric outlets where of little concern. Although the size of our parking lot alone often appeals to those traveling with large or extended vehicles, the need for exterior electrical facilities rarely comes in to play.

We do pride ourselves at this location with excellent customer service and generally there are few customer concerns regarding the staff. We value your business and hope your next experience will match your expectations

The staff provides terrific service, the kind you'd expect to receive at a more costly establishment. Clean & well-maintained rooms & common areas, even if a tad worn & dated. A comfortable stay overall. I'd definitely recommend it for the budget-conscious.traveler!

Room Tip: Upstairs, in the back, next to the pool is a very quiet spot.

Stayed here on a trip visiting relatives. It's definitely an older place - the floors creak, the wallpaper, ceiling, and carpets show a lot of wear & tear, but it's clean and obviously well kept up. The person at the front desk when I checked in was friendly and helpful. The breakfast area left a lot to be desired. I was OK with the limited selection (given the price I paid for the room), but it would have been nice if someone had been present to wipe down the tables and keep the selections well-stocked.

Overall, if you want a no-frills, clean, cheap place to stay, this will do just fine.

Room Tip: If you want connecting rooms (like I did), call well in advance. Apparently, they only have 2 connec...
