The food was fresh and creative - I opted for one of the evening specials (usually cheaper than the expensive menu) - the blackened grouper with crab meat/spinach/tomatoes - and the result was delicious. I am not a fish fan but this was wonderful. The restaurant also features fresh cuts of steak but the price is very expensive for this city ($29 and up). They do offer a menu from the Bistro next door (owned by the same people) that features more moderately price food so you can order off that if you want). The wine list offers a variety by the glass as well as bottle, although if you want a drier more oaky white wine that is not on the menu. The bartender (and wait staff from past experience- ask for Myrna if you want a table and if she is there) can clue you in on what is good based on your likes and dislikes. Although the wine, like the food, is expensive, the value is in ordering a cocktail (vs wine) as you get much more of a pour of alcohol in each drink vs anywhere I have ever been on the entire East Coast. . I enjoy sitting at the bar waited on by Dee Dee ( in my opinion the best/most competent/most knowledgeable/congenial bartender I have ever known). Dee Dee is the main reason I return to this expensive restaurant. She works Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat - also Hope is a wonderful bartender on the other nights - you cannot go wrong eating your meal at the bar -same food - but A++ service at the bar. During the summer the restaurant buys from local farms for fresh menu items. There are salad and appetizer options if you are on a budget and prefer to skip the expensive entrees. There are private rooms sized from two (in the wine cellar) to 50+ so if you are interested in entertaining others, it is a very convenient place to go.
