The Polar Express Train was a lot of fun for our entire family. We purchased crown class tickets. The seats were comfortable and the staff served hot chocolate. The staff was very pleasant and sang and danced similar to the movie. They also read a portion of the book to the children. We went to the "North Pole" which the kids loved. Santa made his way onto the train to talk to all the kids and take pics. My kids thoroughly enjoyed this adventure, which made us adults enjoy it as well. It definitely contributes to that Christmas Magic.

Really enjoyed the relaxing ride on the train - stopped in Dillsboro and there was a wonderful Pottery Show with at least 40 craftsman selling their pottery the day we went! We sat in the PeeWee car (coach class) and it was so comfortable and perfect - wouldn't spend the money for anything more - it's not necessary!! If you call to make a reservation (rather than online), the lady I spoke to was so nice and informative and really made great recommendations!

Save your money, especially during October and DRIVE from Franklin to Bryson City then on to Fontana Lake. You can stop, stretch and take all the pictures you want. The hassle of getting there in time, finding a crowded cafe to eat and running to board makes for a great nap if you could actually stretch out but you CAN'T because the seats are knee to knee in the 'upscale' cars. The 20 cars and 800 people on that old train makes for a S L O W . . . . . R I D E .
Kids will go stir crazy. Only the concession car will save you then !

I didn't dislike a thing about this trip apart from the cold and the Railway Company can't do a lot about that.

Very reasonably priced. We did a 4 hour round trip and caught the beauty of the Autumn colours in the mountains.

If you wish you can travel inside and have a meal or travel inside without a meal but we chose the open car because it was better for camera shots. However beware - it can be very cold so make sure that you are well insulated.

We had a great time on the train. Lots of scenic views. We didn't like the $5 fee for parking when the tickets were already $53 each. They also came to each car and attempted to sell random junk and interrupted the nice ride on the train to do so. For the marketing and the parking fees they only get 4 stars. It was a great 4 hour ride.
