My husband our three children ages 23, 20, 16, plus and each brought a friend, all traveled to Bryson City for a one-week trip. One drove there from TN, two flew into Ashville (very close 1 hr. or so and nice small airport, and the rest of us flew into Charlotte where we rented a SUV drove to Blowing Rock before we headed over to Bryson City. We wanted a trip with lots of activities and a house big enough for everyone to have their privacy and a big kitchen where we could make lunches and cook dinners. Each day we set off of an adventure and we packed a lunch for us to eat during the day. The first day we picked up groceries at the Ingles (very close by) and also went to the Fontana Dam. During our stay we went rafting and did the adventure zip lining at Nantahala Outdoor Center, went tubing at Deep Creek Tube Centre, rented a boat on Fontana Lake which you can see from your porch, zip lined the canopy at Wildwater Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours, Wildwater- Nantahala Adventure Center for another raft trip, Tuckaseegee Outfitters for a relaxing last day trip of tubing. Each night we cooked in the kitchen and it was a very nice kitchen. I had a couple of questions about the gas stove and the disposal but they came out the next day to make sure everything was working correctly. My only suggestion to the owners would be to have nicer pots and pans for cooking, to have more Tupperware for leftovers, replace the garbage disposal and Wi-Fi should be standard. Everything else was great. We used the washer and dryer almost daily. We enjoyed the owner’s supply of games. We watched Zero TV the entire week but for those that want to watch TV, watch a DVD or play a video game - the house was fully stocked. We ordered Wi-Fi from the rental office, because phone service was not that great for our carrier. We liked the sauna and hot tub and sitting out on the porch. We cooked inside and also on the grill. One night we drove to Cherokee for dinner at the casino, which was close by. We wanted to stay in a house that was close to all sorts of actives, and this house was great for this. The drive up the mountain is about 15 minutes once you get into the gate, but we saw wildlife like deer and turkeys on this nice mostly paved drive. Have a great time.
