“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

I booked this motel because the rate was low and I read good reviews, but I wasn't sure it would be nice enough to stay there, however, after checking our my room, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a nice place. The owner went out of his way to accomodate my health issue. This is an older motel, but they are putting upgrades in place. The bikers staying there seemed to be a friendly bunch as well. I felt safe there, although I was alone. It was an easy 25-minute scenic drive to the NOC rafting center. I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor, closest to the office, have quick access to the upper covered deck, where...

My husband and I spent 7 nights (August 5th -12th) at the Ridge Top Motel. We also used the motel as a motorcyle riding "base". We enjoyed our visit very much. The owners, Sanjay and Rina, were very hospitable and made our stay very pleasant. We were impressed that they both were constantly cleaning and maintaining the motel, grounds, and pool area. The rooms are small, however the "deck" outside our room, overlooking the pool and mountains, made us feel like we had an extra sitting area. It was wonderful to come back after a day of riding and sit outside relaxing and visiting with other guests. We will definately be back! We hope to be able to stay at this motel around Christmas time and go to the Polar Express.

We have stayed here a couple of years ago and looked on the Internet for info. We were almost put off by a bad review in November 2011, but knew it was away from freeway traffic and staff was very friendly and helpful before so went ahead and booked for several days for motorcycle riding "base". It was definitely the right decision.

The Ridge Top is in Bryson City, NC which is a GREAT "base" of operations if you are riding motorcycles in the NC/ TN area. The rooms are clean with wi-fi and nice TVs. Not a whole lot of extra floor space. The management is nice and provides rags in the morning to wipe down your motorcycle. I would stay there again. It's a great value!!!

This hotel was sold last year by the family that still owns the campground.
It is simple, clean and quiet. The only thing that bothered us was 2 very early calls from the owners asking if we wanted our room cleaned. They woke us up both times.
All in all it is a good deal for the price.

Room Tip: Simple and clean

This is my fourth time to stay here in three years. The management has changed, but with no loss of that "personal touch". It is an older, family owned motel and campground. The rooms are on the small side, but it is clean. The rooms are in good shape. It is a motorcycle friendly place. Nice pool, beautiful view of the mountains; quiet, but convenient.
Staff is very friendly and hospitable.

Room Tip: Upstairs has the best mountain view, but there is no elevator.

We needed something close to Bryson City as we had family also in the city and didn't fancy travelling for an hour to get accomodation at a rate we could afford. We spotted the sign advertising the motel at the traffice intersection by Subway and headed up there. We were given a discount as we were staying more than one night and ended up saving about 20% off what we would have paid at full price. The family running were slowly refurbishing it and were very open about their plans and if they are able to carry on as planned I hope and think they will achieve their aims. The rooms are a bit dated at the moment but have a wonderful homely feel to them. With the baby the room we had was probably a bit too small but being on the first floor meant that we were able to open the door and she could crawl around outside on the grass whilst I sat at the table and chairs outside the room (every other room has this), I thought the rocking chairs and area on the second floor where you could sit and chat overlooking the Smokey Mountains was quanint and I wish I had gone up to have to look now.

The pool was out of order as they were cleaning it out and repainting it. The internet was a bit unreliable for the first few days but once it was sorted it worked really well.

When we left we were also told that if we wanted to use their linked property at our destination just to mention their name. If we are back in the area and unable to stop with family again we'll be checking back in.
