Love the rocking chairs on the front and back deck. We went to get away with no kids and loved it. Great price and only 4 miles just 2 towns. Owners told us great places to see and a great place to eat called jimmy macs

If you are looking for a nice affordable location you should pick Lloyds on the River Country Inn. Our room was comfortable, clean with reminders from the past. A deck just feet from the mountain stream, grills and picnic tables. Gracious, friendly owners/managers willing to listen and help if asked. Location is half way between Cherokee and Bryson City. No restaurant or hair dryers or phones in the room. We will stay there again, soon I hope. Lee
Hotel took me back to my childhood when we would go on family vacations and highway 19 was the main road to Cherokee. Stopping at small roadside hotels/motels were all back in the day. I loved the enviroment, the creek outback was relaxing. Good thing we were there in Dec or else I would have been wading in the creek. The hospitality was exceptional. Very friendly staff, the room was very clean and neat. We will be back next year if our son wishes to ride the Polar Express again. I would recommend this motel to those who remember the way back in the day hotels/motels before the high rise hotels (Holiday Inn, Hampton, Hilton, etc...).
We stayed three nights at Lloyds on the river last week and only regret that we didn't stay a few more days. Any issues were swiftly resolved after speaking to the owners. The location was centrally located to several of the area's attractions. The town itself,Bryson City was charming-lots to see and do - several local places to eat. The Smokies were amazing- first time down there and they did not disappoint. Oh- no mildew.
Nov 11 had three rooms for family and in-laws. Did not experience mildew and unclean room condition. What a relief. The exterior has an updated look with metal roof and siding. The bed fish quilt was the central point. The Window heat/air warms the room up quickly on cool nights. We loved the porch & rocking chairs allowing us to relax on the river. The only fish I caught was a stick fish ( very woody and lots of fiber - LOL). Bathroom was clean. Good thing I brought my own soap and shampoo. The hotel is 5 miles from Bryson City. Bring what you need with you or drive to town. We drove into Bryson City for the model train museum. Husband loved it and wants to set up model train at our house. I enjoyed the many tiny details of the town, trees, people. The imagination and thousands of hours to create an entire community and daily life. We ate at IRON SKILLET it was good an the peanut butter pie awesome. Since there is nothing to do after the stores close downtown, an evening of cable TV and fast WiFi worked great for us.
We booked our room at Lloyds on the river by the reviews we seen on the web page. We booked the trip a month in advance for nov. 1st to the 3rd, and was so excited about this trip. When we got there at check in time and received the keys to room 118, we were hit the face with the mildew smell. The floor moved when you walked on it while the carpet stuck to your feet. the kitchen was pretty but slanted, the fireplace was boarded up, the wallpaper was peeling, the tiles in the bathroom were cracked, the mattresses were hard as a rock, the pillows were next to flat and needed to be replaced. The topping on the cake was when we started to give our 2 year old grandson a bath and found pubic hairs in the tub and cracks in the tub. We paid a lot of money for 2 nights, and had to go shopping to get disinfectant to spay on the beds to make it smell better, but could not stay but 8 hours in the place that it smelled so bad. The web page pictures are misleading. Please take it from someone with experience, do not waste your money or trip to stay at this place.
