Nov 11 had three rooms for family and in-laws. Did not experience mildew and unclean room condition. What a relief. The exterior has an updated look with metal roof and siding. The bed fish quilt was the central point. The Window heat/air warms the room up quickly on cool nights. We loved the porch & rocking chairs allowing us to relax on the river. The only fish I caught was a stick fish ( very woody and lots of fiber - LOL). Bathroom was clean. Good thing I brought my own soap and shampoo. The hotel is 5 miles from Bryson City. Bring what you need with you or drive to town. We drove into Bryson City for the model train museum. Husband loved it and wants to set up model train at our house. I enjoyed the many tiny details of the town, trees, people. The imagination and thousands of hours to create an entire community and daily life. We ate at IRON SKILLET it was good an the peanut butter pie awesome. Since there is nothing to do after the stores close downtown, an evening of cable TV and fast WiFi worked great for us.

We booked our room at Lloyds on the river by the reviews we seen on the web page. We booked the trip a month in advance for nov. 1st to the 3rd, and was so excited about this trip. When we got there at check in time and received the keys to room 118, we were hit the face with the mildew smell. The floor moved when you walked on it while the carpet stuck to your feet. the kitchen was pretty but slanted, the fireplace was boarded up, the wallpaper was peeling, the tiles in the bathroom were cracked, the mattresses were hard as a rock, the pillows were next to flat and needed to be replaced. The topping on the cake was when we started to give our 2 year old grandson a bath and found pubic hairs in the tub and cracks in the tub. We paid a lot of money for 2 nights, and had to go shopping to get disinfectant to spay on the beds to make it smell better, but could not stay but 8 hours in the place that it smelled so bad. The web page pictures are misleading. Please take it from someone with experience, do not waste your money or trip to stay at this place.

Room Tip: Stay at another place

My husband and I stayed at Lloyds as a recommendation from the other reviews. I found it very pleasant and we want to return with our family. It was a very relaxing experience. It was very quiet and we loved the back porch over looking the river. My husband only regreted not bringing his fishing gear, Since it is private property he could have fished without a licence. Yes it was old buit in the 1920,s but clean and charming.

Room Tip: would like to have a continental breakfast added for the price. know they don,t have the room in the...

My husband, three kids (teen - young adult) and myself stayed here in early August 2013. It was the most beautiful setting we could have imagined. We didn't want to leave and wish we would have stayed longer. Very simple, clean and charming rooms. We loved the porch alongside the river! The owners were very hospitable and attentive. Close to restaurants, white water rafting, National Park and Cherokee, NC. We can't wait to go back and spend more time!

Very nostalgic older motel between Bryson City NC and Cherokee NC ,located right on the river bank .The rooms were very clean and had that old style charm ,the owner was extremely friendly and attentive .The rooms have wifi and flat screen tv .But there was a slight musky smell not over powering but noticeable .The yards are well kept and clean.

Know what you are checking into. This pleasant, clean, bright inn is a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the big world. A stones throw from Cherokee NC, the Great Smokies national park, and the nearby Bryson City Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, you'll find pleasant innkeepers, clean sheets, and comfortable accommodations. Kind of reminds you of when you were a kid and at stayed at your grandparents; even has the old style rollout windows. A quiet, pleasant sleep awaits you. Friendly guests, even the folks on motorcycles were good neighbors.
Remember, this is a cottage style inn, so no frills. you won't find an outlet in the bathroom, but there is a small fridge and even a TV (flat screen) for your room. The best thing is the pleasant surprise you find when you open the back door on your room, the beautiful river is right of the back porch complete with newer rocking chairs to complement a relaxing stay.

We'll be back.

Room Tip: There a couple of room styles, from suites, to upstairs retreats and just a room with a river view.

This hotel is a throwback to simpler times. Rocking chair porch on back with quiet river rolling by. The rooms were small but clean. The beds are comfortable. Do not expect frills, this is an older establishment so don't expect a 5 star experience. But, if all you are looking for is clean, quiet, relaxing and affordable, you might want to check out Lloyds on the River. My wife and I found this place in June by accident. We came back in October for the weekend.

Room Tip: No fitness center or resaurant, just a quiet place to stay. Small clean rooms on the River.
