My husband and I experienced one of the most peaceful vacations we've ever had at Fox Run. It definitely deserves a 5 star rating.
The well-maintained cabin is nestled in a beautiful, tranquil setting. The proximity to restaurants, the Cherokee museum, etc is perfect. Donnie, the owner, makes booking the cabin easy. He is readily available to answer questions.
We booked this cabin because it was in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. It was above and beyond our expectations! It is a great place to kick your feet up and enjoy the beauty and sounds of nature! The night skies are also absolutely amazing from this location. While you can enjoy the solitude, you're still just a short distance from town (15-20 min). We also loved that the kitchen was stocked with everything you need to prepare meals during your stay.
Fox Run is so nice and cozy! Nestled within the Alarka Mountains, surrounded by nothing but nature, tranquility, and mountain streams. We are from PA and needed an escape from the daily 'hustle and bustle.' This cabin is 20 minutes from beautiful Bryson City and great places to eat and close to the Great Smoky Mountains. This place has been a dream family vacation. The very private waterfall hike behind the cabin is worth viewing. We were in awe!! The locals are so welcoming too, everyone waves as you drive by, and it gives you a warm feeling of by-gone days when everyone used to be polite and kind. We don't want to leave!
We went to the cabin with a group of friends, the adults had wonderful comfortable beds as the kids enjoyed having slumber parties in the great room. We enjoyed the hot tub by the creek and roasting marshmellows over the fire pit. There is a creekbed that you have to pass thru to get to the cabin, the kids thought that was awesome! This cabin also has a nice size yard and we all enjoyed playing corn hole. We will definitely be back...... hopefully this fall. With the view the cabin has I'm sure it will be beautiful!
We are two teachers from Asheville who wanted a quick, relaxing getaway for a few days during spring break. This was perfect! Cabin was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. Loved listening to the rushing creek behind the cabin ... and that was typically the only noise we heard! Hot tub was great, esp at night looking up at the stars. Donnie was very attentive to our needs ( we had some trouble hooking up to the Internet and getting the hot tub to temperature, but when we phoned he immediately answered and very nicely walked us through it). We walked up to the falls ... it's straight uphill, but runs along the creek so is all very pretty. We did some Smokies hikes before we checked in and after we checked out, but just stayed at the cabin the rest of the time and let our minds and bodies de-stress. It was perfect for that!
Based on other reviews we made sure to get here before dark and glad we did. The drive up to the cabin made my girlfriend a little anxious but is easily doable even after heavy rains with an suv. Not sure how a low to the ground car would do with several spots. The cabin and grounds was well worth the trip. There are other cabins in the area but are well separated and the views are stunning. We loved the Jacuzzi by the waterfall and used it every night after long days of hiking. The interior of the cabin is spacious, comfortable and well laid out. There were only 3 of us but easily could accommodate 6 without tripping over each other. Donnie, the owner, was friendly, quick to respond to any/all questions and offered lots of information and advice. This was a perfect place to come home to at the end of the day. There is a grocery store and trash dropoff close and conveniently located to the cabin. We had a fabulous time at the cabin and in the great smoky mountains, Cherokee, and Bryson city. Unrelated to the rental, do not eat at Jimmy Mac's in nearby Bryson City. The food was terrible, overpriced and the waitresses completely disappeared after serving our food. We stopped at two different fudge shops, the Chocolate Shoppe in BC and one next to Southern Charm in Cherokee, both had amazing sweets and the owners were super friendly and kind. Lots of elk can be seen in and around Cherokee. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
The cabin was very clean and well kept. We especially appreciated all the kitchen supplies available for use. Front porch offers a good view. Hot tub was nice when it worked right, which really wasn't very often. Basically no traffic up at the cabin, vehicle or foot. Overall, a good stay.
