Meals were rich, comfort and fantastic - all tasted great. We'd love to have more greens and less starches. I'd give it a higher rating if there was more green to with the meals. Other than that, you'll enjoy pigging out

With it's giant stone fireplace, crooked floors and ninty year old light fixtures (and maybe even bulbs) this charming restaurant is a step back in time. No need to dress up here with servers in dungarees and shorts. The casual family oriented restaurant really speaks to the friendliness of the Carolina Mountain people. We love it! The rainbow trout almondine and chicken fried pork chops were cook perfectly. The only thing lacking were the family stlye sides; the vegetables were overcooked and the cheese dish a bit heavy. But the home made deserts made up for the bland sides. An after dinner tour of the hotel with open door bedrooms to peek in and the rustic lobby with multiple activities for guests was a nice ending to the relaxed meal. We will definitely return to this historic place on our next visit to Bryson City.

We dropped by Freymont Inn after doing a little shopping in town. At first glance we thought everything was over-priced. After our waitress dropped by and told us that dinner is served with a salad, soup, two sides, and a dessert, we found it to be slightly more reasonable, but still a little pricey!

I have to say everything we had was pretty good. I had the Chicken Tapenade, which was a little dry, but otherwise good. I was a little worried that two of the people in our group wouldn't like the meal because you don't get to choose your own sides, the sides are whatever two they are preparing for the night. In our case we had glazed carrots and a zucchini casserole. Some of the carrots were slightly undercooked, but the zucchini casserole was really good! They had a decent selection of desserts, and we all enjoyed what we picked.

If you plan on stopping by here, know that it is a little bit more expensive, but it's definitely a full meal! We had four people in our group (plus an infant) and we had enough sides that we had some left in the bowl when we finished the main course.

Loved dinner at the Fryemont. My wife had the pecan trout, while I had the fried trout. Both were nice clean fresh fish and ample portions. I loved the mac-n-cheese and baked apples. Not crazy about the lima beens, but I just don't like lima beans. Peach cobbler was fantastic. We're spending another night in Bryon City, so we will be eating at the Fryemont again.

We waited until last minute to make vacation plans and chose the Fryemont Inn after reading their website. The website said it was on the historice register. It certainly is historic -- very smelly with musky mildew. The lodge part does not have air conditioning and the rooms are sparsely furnished despite a hefty price. We ended up renting in the newer section - I use the term newer loosely. The room smelled of mildew. The decor had not been changed since the 1980's, furniture ratty, bathroom shower would not drain. For this they charged over $205 + taxes a night. The room did come with dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. This was the only redeeming part of the stay and the only reason I did not rate it terrible. Still when you factor the meals it still means the rooms were $130-140 per night. Definitely not worth that much.
