We spend the fourth of July here this year with relatives that flew from out of state for my husband’s birthday. We stayed in the Black Bear cabin (minimum of 4 nights for the holiday, we stayed 3). We were told the key would be under the mat of the cabin as we had arrived 20 minutes after they closed the store. When we arrived, there was no key and we called to have a key dropped off so we could get into the cabin. The cabin itself was very smelly and was not cleaned in between guests. We drove into town and purchased Lysol and sanitizing supplies and started to clean the cabin ourselves. As we were cleaning we noticed that we were getting bit by something along our ankles and upon further inspection we saw it was fleas. We killed a few that were on us and called the desk. When they arrived they said they had not seen any fleas in the cabin, despite the dead fleas we handed to them, and that no dogs had been in the cabin. This cabin DID allow dogs. They sprayed the cabin with ROACH killer and said we could leave or stay for full price and suggested if we were concerned about the fleas that we could keep our clothing and packed items in the car. We also had to purchase a plastic mattress cover as the mattress itself was COVERED with hair and the cover they had was ripped and also very dirty. We will not be back. Despicable customer service.

This is our 4 th time here and we stayed 4th of July week..although it rained we had a wonderful time..there are 3 different play areas, age appropriate, and our 11 year old had a blast with other children...the owners and camp workers always keep everything so clean and very accommodating to our wants and needs...we did not get to tube being that the river was high but it was sure beautiful to sit and watch ..the on site store is always stocked up. Didn't want for anything...all the staff were so nice...just good people..
We will be back

Had a wonderful sight 26, not on water(must call in January on a certain date to get them, great conivence store, Great facilities, great families come year after year. Tube rental cheap ($3/day) mostly level sights. Seem to alway a make improvements. Was mislead a bit by campground map.. you have to drive up the road (not far .. to hike, tube, bike) cannot access trails from campground. Which was fine. No where to dump grey water unless u can talk some one to unhook while you dump (not sure why they don't offer utility sink outside the bathroom like some other campgrounds)
Not their fault but river a bit swift very cold but refreshing. . (Lot if rain in area since winter) if you are going to tube I suggest hiking the trail and observe others first. Don't bite off more than you can chew ease into it. Several stories from people with younger children (some adults) who were done after one trip while we were there. You can tube from park to campground and around campground. Have children wear a life jacket until they are comfortable while tubing so it doesn't get ruined.
suggestion: Talk to other campers (most come a long way year after year) before you tube. very beautiful area if your child decides not to tube. Campground kept very well. They don't have soap in bathrooms just sanitizer.....???? Took my own soap.
If you decide to hike very secluded after u pass the tubing area. Prepare your group (read up on safety) for bear encounters "Not in campground" they do not seem to be worried about it.
but .... While hiking the further we got away from tubing area saw lots of fresh bear droppings. I have my 8 yr old a whistle (to talk to the birds) I hike with a "bear bell" you can buy at Walmart. We turned around when we felt uncomfortable until we can educate ourselves a little better on wildlife safety.

Rent a tube for $4.00 for a full day of fun! Carry your tube as far as you'd like, then hop on and enjoy the ride. The water is refreshing and you pass right in front of a waterfall. Be careful though...wear water shoes, if you have small children watch the speed of the water-if it is slow then fine-with a life jacket. If it is fast, which was actually white water yesterday-then teens who are confident in water. Do not get off in the current, wait until you can get into an eddy and then dismount if the current is strong. There are clean places to change clothes and go to the restroom. This was a blast!

If you are in the Bryson City area, Deep Creek is a must. The tubing is SO much fun. It is truly fun for the entire family. It cost only $3.00 to rent a tube for the day and will be the most fun you have in the smokies! There are two waterfalls you can hike to if you wish. Be prepared, you will want to go back, again and again!
