We visited Brevard for several days to look at the college. We asked for some advice on dining and the Square Root was mentioned so we gave it a try. As mentioned in another review the table was horribly out of level which gave a teetter totter effect whenever anybody made a move. Our service was slow and didn't seem very well organized but the menu was interesting so we stayed. Our service remained sub par and our dinners were no different. Portions were small and over priced. Our biggest mistake was deciding to stay to listen to some local live music. The music was the high point of our night but the clientel was anything but enjoyable. Almost entirely 20 something with a roudy mix of hippies and local mountain boys. We left earlier than we would have liked because a few of the folks obviously came drunk and exhibited their obnoxious and immature sides which made us uncomfortable and seemed to create a perceivable tension in the air. Management seemed to pay no attention and made no attempt to persuade the most drunken, rude and beligerant offender that it might be time for him to leave so, instead, we all left. A few minor adjustements could have made dinner more enjoyable but it's not our idea of a pleasant place to spend a night out.
