Ash Grove Mountain Cabins & Camping
Reviewed April 28, 2014

I absolutely love Ash Grove. I've been 14 times and try to get away there 4 or 5 times a year. I enjoy every season up there because they are all so different. I get the best nights sleep there with the cool mountain air and the quiet tranquility. The cabins are very clean and well maintained. One is dog friendly so I can bring my lab with me to enjoy a get away as well. Steven and Mark, the owners, are so friendly. The campground is close to hiking trails with and without waterfalls and also to downtown Brevard which has wonderful shopping and dining. I love coming to western North Carolina and, in particular, Brevard, and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Room Tip: I'm not much of an outdoor camper, so I prefer the cabins which are very clean.

This is our 5th trip here. It is amazing how well kept the cabins are kept year after year. It is a testimate to the owners and guests. They show little or no wear. These facilities are kept up and we even saw improvements in our cabin and a few camp sites. The owners are dedicated to all guests having a perfect experience to enjoy nature. Have a family? The playground is a great place for children to play. Horseshoes are also available.
Now about the birthday! Since I knew how awesome this campground is I wanted to celebrate my birthday here in the peacefulness of nature. I reserved this cabin 6 months in advance. We spent 3 nights here relaxing and visiting water falls. This place was so impressive to a couple in the next cabin over they got engaged on their very first visit during our stay.
So if you are looking for a place to relax in nature, get peace and quiet and get away from commercial style camping you need to come here. Not far from everything you would want to do.
The owners and managers are the best in the world and will see to your comfort.

Reservations is recommended due to the rising popularity of this awesome campground.
:-)

Room Tip: Make early reservations.

My wife and I camped Feb. 26 thru March 3 and had a great time. We were the only campers in the camp area, all alone. The bath house was veryy clean and very well marked for users safety and usage. Paths and sites were well marked. Mark and Steve are very good hosts. There is plenty to do any time of the year. Brevard has many stores and small restaurants and business's to tickle anyone's fancy. While visiting, we hiked at Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Forest and Dupont State Recreational Park visiting nearly a dozen water falls.
Visit YouTube and watch posted videos of the campground, leave clothes and main meal food items in car since the parking area is near bath house. Plan accordingly to make your restroom visits in to pick up items in car, it works. This will save you hauling your items from point A to B when it's unnecessary.
Ash Grove is family friendly.
Ash Grove has all the qualities you maybe looking for, try it. We drove 534 miles from Louisville, Ohio and would do it again.

Thank you for being our guests! We're glad that you were pleased with the bahthouse. And thank you for the tips for our campers. Winter is our slowest time of year, but one of the most beautiful, too. Brevard is not in the 'snow belt', so you rarely have to worry about getting stuck due to bad weather. We hope that you make the long drive back to see us.

My wife and I traveled to NC in early October. Picked the campground from the web reviews and was not disappointed. Sites were roomy and clean. Bathrooms and showers were kept spotless all week long.

The two men that run the campground, Steve and Mark, were friendly and informative. We were new to the area and we had many questions. They prepared a nice flier featuring hikes, walks, restaurants and attractions. We had many questions which they gladly answered.

What else we loved? Being on top of a mountain, peace and quiet and the neighbors friendly dog.

Steve and Mark helped us fall in love with someplace we've never visited before but are looking forward to returning in the not-too-distant future.

This is a campground for real campers, not the cable TV, AC, high-intensity crowd.

Thank you for staying with us. Providing a clean, quiet friendly place to stay--whether in a campsite or one of our cabins--is one of our primary goals. We fell in love with the Brevard/Transylvania County area on our first visit here and I guess that love of our forested mountaintop, small town and spectacular waterfalls spills over and helps our guests feel the same way! We look forward to your return.

I think we've camped here five times since my luck of finding this place three years ago. This time, our rescued dog Rex was warmly welcomed on his first camping trip. Each time we visit, we notice a few improvements that have been made to the grounds. And this time the bath house smelled like fresh laundry when I walked in!

We really enjoy being in the woods. Please note you will be required to walk to your campsite, and you are in the mountains, so it is hilly. This time, we heard owls very near our tent in the middle of the night. I love the complete stillness and darkness that happens right before dawn. We were also able to sleep late in our tent both mornings. Our stay was worth every penny!

Brevard is such a wonderful location for hiking. You are also a short drive from town, so you can grab a bite to eat or shop in the historic downtown area. We are considering renting one of the cabins during the winter so we can enjoy the views without the leaves. Also be sure to visit the Pisgah Ranger Station to gather trail info and meet some great folks who are super helpful!

Now, I jokingly have just one suggestion for my friends Steven and Mark. It's been two weeks now and I still have bruises on my legs from Daisy's picnic table. Would it be possible to consider rounded corners on the benches for a slightly clumsy camper who might walk around in the dark too much?

And we can't wait for your next camping trip to Ash Grove, too! We appreciate your loyalty to our business and that you take the time to share your experiences on TripAdvisor. Now about that picnic table bench.... The corners are chamfered, so they should be relatively easy on your legs. But, on your next visit, to try to keep you from bumping in to it, we will give you a souvenir Ash Grove LED flashlight-keychain to help you see in the dark!

No labor here! Another perfect stay at Ash Grove! (4th) I know it's been a couple of weeks but busy is as busy is. We stayed over the labor day weekend. It was a perfect weekend. The campground hosts are the worlds best. We had a blast watching the children of other campers having a great time. Children are the best and camping is something they will never forget. The bath house is perfect as always. Cleaned daily and well stocked. This campground provides a perfect place to unplug, relax and tour the local sights. The hosts are always smiling and friendly. If you love nature and love the outdoors you can't do better than this. Plan your next camping trip at Ash Grove!

Ash Grove Mountain Cabins & Camping is set on a wooded mountaintop and there was a steep road to our site #4. However this presented no problem to us as we were driving a Class B and the site was quite level. Typical rustic mountain type campground and, although there were a few RV sites (don’t think they’d get an A-class in there !!), it was more suited to tent camping but there were several large, comfortable-looking cabins set amongst the trees. The bathroom block was adequate and clean but only one shower; however, as we seemed to be the only folks in the campground, no problem there. It was quite a steep walk down from our site. It was very quiet most of the time - some road traffic noise in the mornings and evenings but very quiet during the night. Although your cell phone is unlikely to work, there is a courtesy phone outside the office that is available for local calls at all times. We stayed here for two nights and spent one day hiking in the Du Pont State Forest which is close by.

Thank you for staying with us. We're glad that you found us to be "rustic, quiet and clean" and we hope that you come back! We do have a couple of things we would like to clear up. First, we have a total of 4 showers, not 1 (two in the men's room and two in the women's room). And second, we can--and do--get up to a 32' class A or C into some of our RV sites (and up to a 28' pull behind trailer).
