This is a great campground, that my partner and I throughly enjoyed. We made a few new friends and loved that the campground recylces and keeps their bathrooms clean and neat. Its a central location and the owners were wonderful. I am looking forward to my next trip planned there this coming April!! Camp here if you can..you wont be disappointed!

We couldn't have asked for a better... anything. We've been to AshGrove twice now. Once by ourselves for our 10th anniversary, and once with our young children for Thanksgiving. Both experiences were enchanting, magical, and revitalizing. Our stay in the Stellar site was the best iv'e ever had in a camping experience. The sites were set far enough apart to give a real sense of privacy, while still being close enough to the wash house/water source to be convenient. The little extra's were amazing, coffee in the mornings for free, warm - clean and cozy bathrooms with hair-dryers and a notice board with the daily weather posted, and good conversation any time.
The cabin we stayed in for Thanksgiving (Woodspirits Retreat) was so warm and comfortable, we felt at home immediately. It was spotless, well stocked with towels, sheets and pillows, as well as sugar, salt & pepper, and a selection of really good books.
Our kids loved the little playground right outside the cabin, and walking the trails down to the little waterfall at the edge of the property.
But it was Mark and Steven who made our time there really special. They take people on trail walks, and know the names of everything that grows on their land. There are Full Moon walks, and mushroom picking events. They have bonfires, play music and sing with their guests, creating an unparalleled ambiance. Their rapport with the guests is more like old friends you've just met, rather then owners of a campsite. It was quiet, peaceful and safe.
When we left, Mark hugged us all goodbye as friends, not as customers. It's a magical place, a little piece of Paradise hidden in the hills above Brevard. I can't recommend it enough. We will be back, as many times as we can.

My wife and I have spent what is collectively several weeks now at Ash Grove. Our home away from home is in the Dogwood Den cabin, the pet friendly retreat. Hot coffee on a cool morning while sitting on the porch swing is the perfect way to wake from a very restful night of sleeping. The cabin itself is very much a lovable character among Ash Grove's beautiful hill sided forest and it's interesting well marked trails. The campground is a wonderful base of operation from which to visit many places and sites in the North Carolina mountains. Mark and Steven are great hosts with even greater hearts and are full of helpful suggestions and good conversation. We love it (and our dogs too) and plan to return again and again.

Brevard is a great place, this place is not! The management is not family friendly and lack the ability to just listen. The have even gone so far as to kick a family out on the street in the middle of the night. There are many options of places to stay, please don't support this management at this place.

We are responsible for the safety and security of our guests, as well as their ability to use and enjoy our facilities, so we make a point of knowing who is on our property. Our policy regarding our guests having visitors states: "Our facilities are for our registered guests only, unless prior arrangements have been made. There may be an additional charge for visitors during peak times. Guests are responsible for their visitors' behavior. No overnight visitors. Visitors must leave by 10:00pm." This policy is on our website. We also include it in the information sent to prospective guests before making payment, so that they can make an informed decision as to whether or not we are the right place for them. It is also posted in the cabins.
Regarding this particular incident, the registered guests did not make prior arrangements for visitors, nor did they inform us that they were having guests when they checked in, nor at any point after that. At a few minutes before 10pm, we noticed an unfamiliar vehicle driving in. We stopped them and asked if we could help them. They told us they were here to visit some of our guests. We showed them the cabin and told them that all visitors must be gone by 10pm. A few minutes after 10pm, I was walking toward the cabin to remind them that they were here past the cutoff time, when I saw their vehicle leave. Then a couple of minutes later, our guests' vehicle drove off, too. I thought that they had perhaps gone to meet each other downtown for a drink or something. However, about 20 minutes later I noticed a car pull into Ash Grove and park next to the office ( which was closed). I recognized it as our guests' vehicle. Then one of the guests and their visitors got out of the vehicle and walked to the cabin.
I went to the cabin and confronted them about the issue. They had broken the rule about making prior arrangements for having visitors, but we had let that slide. However, we had told them that visitors had to leave by 10pm. Not only had they made it appear that their visitors had left, but had underhandedly driven them back in. So in addition to willfully breaking the 10pm rule, they had attempted to deceive us. Their excuse was that they thought that "visitors could stay as long as they wanted, as long as their car was gone by 10pm". Nothing that was written or said to them even vaguely gave that impression. I told them that their visitors had to leave and that since we would not tolerate deception from our guests that they had to leave as well. The guests had broken rules, deceived us and assisted people to trespass on our property, so we feel that we were quite justified in making them leave.
This management response is to the above "review" which was written by one of the people who were trespassing.

We have been to Ash Grove 4-5 times, with and without our 11-year old twins! From the first visit, Mark and Steven have treated us like old friends. They have thought of every detail before you even ask, form having wheel barrows ready to haul your camping gear to your site to leading my children on nature hikes and having hot coffee ready by 8am every morning! What a treat on a chilly fall morning! The sites are beautifully maintained yet rustic and natural! Mark and Steven are excellent hosts, so thoughtful. This past trip, my son was stung by a bee...it didnt' even take a minute for Mark to run inside, make a baking soda paste and soothe his sting! What a relief since we had already packed up the car and were getting ready to leave! Finally, I have recommended Ash Grove to friends who have gone and loved it as much as we have, we will continue to recommend it and return for many years to come. It's is truly a special place in one of the most beautiful areas of North Carolina! Enjoy!

Let me preface this by saying we camp alot we have a 4 year old that loves nature and we have two dogs, we camp with friends and family. We camp one a month 5 to six months out of the year. We love this campground! The guys that run the place communicate verywell they make sure you have a place to park and even answer my questions about the area even if I am not staying at there campground that weekend. My daughter adores Steven he has taken her on hikes around the campground and she continues to look for woodpeckers and even pointed the woodpeckers out on our last camping trip here with our family and her grandparents. Our most recent trip was for halloween and she kept them on there toes with trips up the haunted trail, her questions to them about the bees and she even had them tell her storys by the fire, "when I wallked up she told me I was bothering her and she was enjoying the storys" We have been here 5 times in 3 years and brought our daugher 4 out of the 5 times. Each time brought different family or friends and they all fell in love and have repeated trips here with out us! If you want Charm and class this is the place to go with hospitality that surpasses any campground I have ever been to. We are planning two more trips here next year and who knows maybe more! I highly recomment this campground as they are just really super great people! The steller sights are our favorites they even come around at night just to make sure ya don't need anything! Love this campground and the love that has been put into it !
