A friend and I have been wanting to try this place for months and the opportunity finally presented itself. The owners have taken a nasty BBQ place and given it new life! It is immaculately clean with a colorful but tasteful Mexican theme...although Quixote was Spanish... but that's not the point. Its like green tablecloths, polished pewter chargers and napkin rings are a pleasant greeting as is the staff. We were graciously greeted and seated and while they might be a bit over welcoming, that is far better than being ignored or brusquely served.
The menu is traditional Mexican cooking. It isn't TexMex or Taco Bell. It is slightly elevated home cooking in a pleasant atmosphere.
The selection of margarita and Mojito offerings are within the current trend of flavors and are well made and presented. A bit light on the alcohol, but a nice offering. We enjoyed a lovely shrimp dish in a tamarind flavored sauce that had just the right amount of heat to compliment the shrimp but not take away from its delicacy. The bistecca poblano was so traditional in its flavor, it brought me back to Mexico! The corn laced with poblano chilis was a nice side. We decided to order the Mole enchiladas as an afterthought. Their mole was very, very good! It was well balanced with the right combination of head and spice and creaminess... if you are a mole fan, this is some of the best we've eaten.
Low key, well priced and very friendly...we look forward to dining here again!
