Description: Cafe Portofino is a family restaurant that is located in a historic building that was the original Tweetsie Railroad repair station in the late 1800's. We accommodate a small intimate party to very large groups. We specialize in pastas, steaks, specialty sandwiches and burgers. We have homemade soups and desserts. We have a very extensive wine and beer list including 18 different beers on draft and all ABC Permits. On the weekends we feature Chef Specials. We have a separate kids menu. We have several large TV's throughout our dinning room and bar so you can always catch your favorite sporting event. We also carry the NFL package.

We were vacationing with our Shih-Tzu when we visited Boone. At lunch time we sought a restaurant with outdoor seating that would allow "Purl" to stay with us. A nice young man at another restaurant recommended Cafe Portofino. We had a wonderful server who brought fresh water and a treat for Purl before he took our orders. Our lunch was delicious! There were two other dogs on the patio, so we chatted with their "humans." It was a delightful afternoon. We would highly recommend Cafe Portofino!

Best cheesesteak in boone hands down. Good appitizers and a cool little bar area to watch the game and meet cool people, also the best place in town to play pool.

In the middle of Appalachian State University, this place caters to a lot of college students. However, we had a cozy, quiet table for four in the back. It's not an extensive Italian menu, but the food was good, plentiful, and served pleasantly and competently by Kyle.

We had a large family group eat there Friday night, our seating was next to the kitchen - which was neat. Service was quick, and food was great. $5 margarita special was an added bonus. Look up for amusement and find the "ladies" door (near ceiling)!!

We made a reservation for 15 people for our daughter's graduation party and had the best time. The staff was ready for the busy day and very attentive. Our waiter, Kyle was excellent. All of the appetizers were delicious and we ordered a lot of them. All 15 of us were happy with our entrees. From the delicious steak to the Santa Margharita pasta to the Grown Up mac and cheese, everything was excellent. We even joked about going back the next day. Cafe Portofino was the perfect place for celebrating our special day and very reasonably priced. We will be back soon!
