I have eaten here for both dinner and breakfast. There is nearly always a wait, and sometimes it's quite long. So try to go at a slightly off time - either earlier or later than usual meals, though you will still wait. Once you sit down you're served immediately. It's family style with a set menu. Breakfast is very good, and there are a few things you'll be served that you can eat if you are a vegetarian, though it is heavily meat-pig based. The biscuits and cinnamon rolls are excellent, service is good and quick. Dinner is also good, though not as good as The Homeplace in Catawba, Virginia. It's a good deal for a lot of home cooked food, though it is not for health food fanatics. If you haven't tried a home cooking Southern restaurant that serves family style, this is a great place to start. Prices are reasonable. $8.95 for breakfast Saturday and Sunday 8-11am and about $14 for dinner for adults.

We dined at Dan'l Boone Inn during Thomas the Train week at Tweetsie Railroad. We could not have been more pleased. We arrived for dinner and had about a 45 minute wait. Once we were seated, both the food and service were excellent. We loved the way the meal was served and the family atmosphere of the place. We definately plan to return when in Boone.

Overpriced, over rated, the service was terrible and the food was not good at all. Once upon a time it was good. Even the coffee that has great reputation was bad this go round. Would not recommend this and totally agree with previous reviews. Quality of food was bad, most tasted like it came from a can.

I recently ate at the DB Inn with my wife and daughter. It has gone down hill since I ate there many years ago. The service was fine, but the food just was not that good. Very bland, nothing special. And it is VERY overpriced for the quality of the food. Don't waste your time and money at this place.

After we were quickly seated, we were greeted by our waiter who had water, tea and vegetable soup. My picky kids have never eaten vegetable soup but they loved it at this restaurant! When were finished with the soup, our table was covered with many delicious dishes (ie fried chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, ham bisquits, etc). All you can eat, family style eating is great for my impacient kids. Then we all enjoyed a delicious dessert. It wasn't the best tasting food I ever had (it was good) but the dining experience was great because of their style and friendly staff. I think some other reviewers were comparing it to some gourmet restaurant, they are down the street.
