Flintlock Family Campground
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Grounds were in great shape and obviously well maintained. We tent camped on Memorial weekend and had a great time. Of all the campgrounds that we have visited across NC, Flintlock is now No. 1. The only reason that I couldn't rate it a 5 is solely due to the bathhouse. While it was stocked and kept clean, it is also very old and the water smells when showering. I hope that the owners are seriously considering demolition and replacement of the bathhouse in the near future. If you are tent camping or staying in one of the cabins, your going to have a considerable walk to get to the bathhouse. A small bathroom in the tent/cabin area would have prevented all the folks from going to pee in the woods behind our site.
The owners and staff were very helpful and checked on you to make sure you didn't need anything. Kids will love the river and rock climbing that it provides.
Perfect setting with the river & mountains and only a short drive to Boone.

See you there!!

Room Tip: Tent site 26 is the gem. Close to the bathhouse & on the river. Tent sites 3,4,5,6,7,8 are als...

My Wife Karen and Myself have been here twice. The first time last summer we were planning a short stay which ended up a month. We went back in September and stayed another month. We enjoy this relaxed beautiful campground, the personnel, facilities, bathhouse and campstore alone with the pavillion, which are metiously cleaned, so much we plan to stay the entire summer in 2013. It is close to many attractions, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Blue Ridge Parkway, numerous trout fishing streams and ponds, Zip Line Rides, Emerald and rare stone mining and much more.
Firewood, Cold drinks, Ice creme and many other things too numerous to mention are available on site. major grocery stores are close by. There is always someone close by to help you, whether another camper or one of the fine staff. I recommend this campground with 5 Stars!!!

Room Tip: The campground offers Cabins, Tent Camping, popup and full motorhome sites with sewer, Cable TV, wat...

I am sitting in a wonderful campsite next to the large creek. Peace, my kids happy and a friendly staff. Who could ask for more. I am selecting this as my permanent camp site for future visits. Please stop and see Jerry and the great folks here.

Room Tip: This is a campground with no pool or fitness room

This is a small campground, and right off a busy street, but you would never know it. It has a delightful creek running through it, and the sound of the creek drowns out the noise of the cars. We visited in Early May and during the week, and almost had the place to ourselves! So I can't say what it is like in the busy season, but it was quiet and peaceful during our stay. The cabin we stayed in was right on the creek, and brand new. It was also very clean. One bonus I have not seen in other cabins at other campgrounds--they had pillows! The bathrooms are older and nothing to write home about in terms of aesthetics, but they were very clean and functional. We had good wi-fi in our cabin. I would recommend this campground to others, and I would stay again if ever in the area.

Our family has been going to this hide away for serval years. We reserve 8 cabins and 2 tent spaces each July. We have 7 children and they have children and a couple of dogs and we each have our own cabin. We cook all our meals and eat togeather at the tent spaces. We have a relaxing fire even in July and we sit and fellowship. We live within 15 miles of one another and get togeather often but the slow down pace of this vacation time is wonderful. We go other places but this is our family pick to enjoy one another and the beauty of our Lords spoken word.
