Four of us decided to give the Six Pence Pub a try on a recent trip to Blowing Rock. We arrived in the early afternoon to find a full restaurant with about a thirty minuet wait. We put our name on the list and were called in about twenty minuets.
The restaurant reminds me of Pubs we have visited in Ireland and the U.K. The tables are close, but not crowded, the noise level was about what you would expect and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable.
We had two starters consisting of fried pickles and "loaded bangers" both of which were served hot and tasty. For the main course we had Fish and Chips, Crab Cakes, and one of the daily specials which was a variation on "Pig in a Blanket" made with Cumberland sausage and served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The food was good and the portion size was big. Service was excellent.
We will certainly go back to the Six Pence on our next visit to this lovely mountain town.
