Service was horrible! Food was very mediocre. Bartender was rude! Food was cold! Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Horrible experience, will NEVER go back!

We were headed to the Wooly Worm festival in Banner Elk, but the traffic was too horrible so we turned around and headed for Blowing Rock. We spent the day shopping and decided to have a light lunch. Six Pence was recommended from a local shop employee. Because this was peak leak season the town was very crowded. We had about an hour wait, so we continued to shop. We all ordered soup; French Onion and Broccoli Cheese. Both were very good and just what we needed since we had a big dinner planned.

If you read any of my other reviews, you will notice a recurring theme. The beer selection is excellent with a large variety of English beers.

With the large crowd, the service was just a tad on the slow side, but that was okay since I was exhausted from shopping.

I hope to return and try their fish and chips, they looked delicious. And of course, a few other beers.

We thought their Gouda burger with spinach and mushrooms was amazing. We also enjoyed both their fries and sweet potato fries.

On a very busy October weekend, we ended up at Six Pence. Every place in town had a 45-90 minute wait for lunch. Six Pence had a shorter wait than the other two places we considered. My husband loved his pastrami sandwich and my grilled ham & cheese was nice and melty. They had a nice beer and cider selection. Food was served fast and hot despite their busyness.

Ate here for lunch. We had the shephards pie & greek salad. Nice place to eat for lunch while stopping in Blowing Rock. We really enjoyed our food.
