“Great service, great views”

We enjoyed our overnight stay at Gideon Ridge while on a driving tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The accommodations in the Blue Room were extremely comfortable. Chocolates and peanuts in the room, a refreshment bar with coffee, tea and cold drinks, and the availability of cocktails from their kitchen would keep anyone happy. We were made to feel right at home by the staff. Once we went down to relax on their porch with the beautiful view we never wanted to leave. Fortunately, we never had to! We loved the fact that they offer a full service restaurant right there and we had an amazing meal. That was a huge treat after driving all day. We returned to our room to find the bed turned down and a plate of cookies on the bedside table. Sweet! Breakfast the next day did not disappoint either. We wished we had more time to explore Blowing Rock. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: The Blue Room is huge, with nice views from all the windows. The bathroom reveals more of the age o...

Once again we loved our one night getaway to Gideon Ridge. The staff is helpful and friendly and the inn itself is so charming. The views are spectacular and while on the terrace, we met the most delightful couple and ended up dining with them that night. The food was delicious. Will always choose to stay here whenever we go to Blowing Rock.

We went here based on the five star rating. It is a beautiful old Inn to be sure,But they had no veg options Sooooo our waitress said the chef would make us something. We trusted and were way overcharge for couscous and a few veg. Very disappointed, they made a huge margin on us!

My wife and I had been looking forward for months to spend our 38th wedding Anniversary at Gideon Ridge - our first visit. Most of what we experienced was superb - our dinner and breakfast in Restaurant G, the setting, our room being spacious. We were told that the air conditioning was working, but a little tricky and that the thermostat could only be adjusted a few degrees at a time. All was well until 2AM when we both woke up sweating. Attempts to gently lower the thermostat were not successful and we ended up spending an uncomfortable remainder of the night. The next day, we mentioned our night to the Inn Keeper, who replied that because of the holidays it wouldn't be repaired until the following week. By the time we got home (less than two hours away), I was exhausted and had to take a nap for over three hours. Overall, I feel that the management of a 5 Star resort should never knowingly give a guest an accommodation that is not up to their overall standard.

We travel a lot and prefer staying in inns. We have probably stayed with Gideon Ridge 15 times over the past 5 -6 years. We frequently stay in the Sunrise Suite and the Cedar Cottage. This most recent visit we stayed in The Colonial Suite. The views are breath-taking. The inn is very unique. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is delicious and varied. Afternoon tea is a delight. The rooms, beds and linens are extremely comfy. We go as often as we can. We have never had a bad experience. Can't wait to go back.

We loved our stay here. When we arrived afternoon tea was in progress. Had a delightful treat while sitting on the stone balcony overlooking mountains and the lovely property. We stayed in the French Room which is probably the smallest accommodation, but very private. With the windows open on a cool night it was so relaxing. The restaurant was not open on a Monday night so cannot comment on that. Breakfast had excellent choices.

This B&B turned out to be not as great as advertised. The room we had reserved smelled musty and mildewy, my sinuses began to close up immediately. The staff was great about letting us choose another room as the inn was nearly empty. BOth rooms were lovely and we did enjoy the lounge area and a pool game downstairs later in the evening. However, there was no evening gathering since we were practically the only inhabitants. Additionally, breakfast the next morning was certainly not as advertsied in the Select Registry catalog. We had one choice - eggs any way we wanted them. This was accompanied by 2 slices of some sort of quick bread. Very, very disappointing. As a side note, we had dinner in the inn at Restaurant G. While my meat was very good it was accompanied by grilled spring onions, allegedly. This turned out to be a long fibrous item that was impossible to eat. When I spoke to the waiter about it he was very apologetic. The chef, however, saw no reason to send out a different vegetable or do anyting to make amends. All in all, this was a disappointment and we would neither return to Gideon Ridge nor recommaned anyone else to do so.
