“Staying in the Grandfather View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2011

We spent three nights in the Grandfather View suite at the Gideon Ridge Inn. The suite is wonderful, it has two bathrooms, one with a giant marble shower. The suite also has a tube in the bedroom for more intimate bathing. The king sized bed is extremely comfortable with the best linen available. The best part of the room is the breath taking view of Grandfather Mountain looking out the window of the sitting area. The service at the inn is outstanding and the people are so friendly. The breakfasts are delicious, cooked to order. The tea served every afternoon at four with scones and other treats is excellent. We enjoyed meeting the other guests at tea and trading travel experiences.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent but most do not have TV. There are no phones in the rooms but there is a ph...

This was our third trip to Gideon Ridge. They make you feel like you're coming home to your "2nd" home. Lovely staff who are like old friends and they assist you at every turn. The beds & linens are so comfortable and the breakfasts are just divine. You have to have dinner there. Expensive but, worth every penny and we've experienced many fine dinners here and overseas. Sitting out on the veranda with it's magnificent views during afternoon tea is a real treat. We always make sure we're back in time for that. Too cold to do that this trip but, sitting around the fireplace instead was very cozy. There's so much to do within Blowing Rock and the surrounding area. Shopping, hiking, driving the Parkway. We still haven't seen it all.

I traveled to Charlotte to visit my Auntie, and took her here. We drove up and felt the "wow" begin and then it never stopped till we pulled away. From the greeting to dinner, the staff sets the stage of manners and service like none I have experienced any where else. Here is what was different, it felt so sincere and genuine. Christopher is a force of style, manners and grace that allows you to say I have a new wonderful experience in my life, meeting this person. The room was wonderful, the food is another "awe" and the staff a memorable experience. I have to make it back to this place soon. Southern charm, beauty, great staff and Christopher.... this is a perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: Grandfather room has a wonderful window and view. I saw the sunrise room and that would be my next p...

I am a local resident who has recommended Gideon Ridge many times. My wife and I spent an anniversary there and were overwhelmed by the site. Donna, the innkeeper was just perfect and the staff just extra accommodating. The wine cellar is top-notch and the food at the restaurant a treat. My recent recommendees' (sic) have just confirmed what many others have said. The Milner family treats this place like a true labor of love and it shows time and again. This, coupled with their excellent Bistro Roca Restaurant in Blowing Rock should take care of your creature comforts.

Room Tip: Grandfather Suite or Sunrise Suite

Excellent hospitality, well appointed rooms, beautful views, delicious breakfast. I have been coming for 5 years, and it was a quick favorite to begin with, but the service and atmosphere keeps somehow even getting better and better.

Room Tip: My favorites are Sunrise View and Cedar Cottage.
