The hospitality at the Inn is first rate. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. A special mention must go to Chris the inkeeper who treated us with true Southern hospitality and was very attentive. The weather was beatiful so we ate both breakfast and dinner on the terrace which has a spectacular view over the mountains. We also had a very welcome tea there the first day we arrived. The food was excellent. The room was very comfortable but greatly lacked storage space (only one small closet and no chest of drawers). We were in Cedar Cottage which is apart from the main hotel down in the woods, It smelt just a little musty and a tad damp but that is a quibble. It was however quite fun to be down in the woods by ourselves.

Stayed at Cedar Cottage and dined at the Inn 3 of 5 nights (the other 2 at their sister restaurant, Bistro Roca). Food was excellent; the chef accommodated my vegetarian needs nicely. The view of the mountains from the terrace is "to die for." Chris attended to every guest and made us (and others, I am sure) feel special and well cared for. He is a master of hospitality, even putting out the Scottish flag for my husband, Alex, who hails from Scotland. Our only regret is that the room smelled a bit moldy, possibly because it is located down the hill a bit, surrounded by trees and shade, and has a jacuzzi tub in the room. Not a show stopper, though. We'll come back and maybe try another room in the main house. Finally, the guests were also quite friendly; perhaps the size and ambience of the lodge contributed to a cozy feel. The ability to mingle with guests before, during and after dinner enhanced our enjoyment.

We stayed here over July 4th weekend. We stayed in the french room, which had been the chauffer's room when it was a private home in the 1940s. Ours was the most modest and least expensive room in the house, but it was lovely, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very courteous and available. We spent every evening out on the spectacular porch and breakfasted out there as well. Highly recommend for a romantic, peaceful getaway.

This was our 3rd visit to Gideon Ridge Inn and it just keeps getting better! The staff are all so very friendly and helpful. We never used a towel more than once without it being replaced. The views are magnificent, matched only by the superb dining. Hats off to their incredible chef. We have stayed in a different room each time - each one very spacious and having its own charm. We would recommend Gideon Ridge to anyone! We will most definitely return!
