“Pan fried trout - - WOW!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

The "must order" menu item on your first visit to this Blowing Rock eatery. Second only to catching and cooking it yourself.

“Very disappointing!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Don't go here if you want a good meal. First disappointment was that they don't serve oysters for lunch. Well then don't call it an oyter bar! The girl that worked there was really nice but the whole experience was embarrasing due to the fact that I insisted on finding a mom and pop place instead of a chain restaurant while I had my parents with me. The menu was not impressive at all. When the food got there we were kind of like..."Where is the rest of it?". Kid size portions. My mom got the shrimp and it wasn't a lot at all. It was suppose to come with hushpuppies and I had to go hunt them down for her then they only gave her 3 small so called hush puppies. Chili was ok. My son had the chicken which he loved but everything else was blah. While we were there a sign even fell off the wall and hit a woman in the head but cook/owner? offered to buy her a beer. The cook looked like a slob. Onion rings were gross, fries looked like only half an order. Pass it by if you want good food, stop if you are starving and get full eating like a bird.

“Great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Stopped in to grab a sandwich before the July 4 parade (that goes right by the restaurant). Enjoyed a good roast beef sandwich with some tasty hush puppies. The price was good but the service was fantastic. My family was was in our SUV right outside. They had the tailgate up so they could enjoy the parade in the rain. I needed to get my food out there. The staff helped me through a back door and even offered to get soaking wet to help deliver my food.

“Good trout”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

The broiled trout was tasty and the broccoli was done with herbs-so good. We went for lunch. My husband got the Cajun trout but felt the broiled was better. The plates ran about $13.00.
