This did not taste like real bbq. The meat was very dry, the slaw was right out of a carton. We will not go back here. Server was OK.

“Awful...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2009

Not worth it. Not even if you are really, really in the mood for BBQ. Go to Sonny's BBQ chain... you'll get better tasting stuff. You can really taste the fake smoke they add to the sauce and the meat to give it that smoked over a hickory fire for hours, but you just can't substitute the real thing. I had to buy some BBQ sauce at a store to add to my chopped pork (wasn't chopped, just chunks of meat thrown on the to go plate). They gave enough sauce to barely cover one fork full of meat. The hot sauce was just that, hot no flavor. The regular sauce had absolutely no flavor. I had hushpuppies as one of my sides... heavy, mealy, tasteless and greasy.

Why do mediocre when you can do great?

“Not the best - but mostly OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2008

My wife and I have lived in the Blowing Rock area for over 5 years and visit Woodlands about twice a year just for the heck of it. If you are a non-smoker, be prepared to take a perilous walk down the steep stairs to the non-smoking section. Why must non-smokers wait and walk through the smoking section? The cornbread is dry and crumbly and the baked beans appear to be canned off the grocery shelf but everything else is OK. Slaw is pretty good, wings are good-just be careful about the hot ones. The best meal we have had from Woodlands was a catered rehersal dinner where everything was just fantastic. It is almost always crowded but we still go two times a year in the off-season.

“This is not BBQ Ladies and Gentlemen..Horrendous”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2008

How anyone can say this is a good BBQ place is beyond belief. This place should be ashamed of itself to put the term "BBQ" on their sign. This is not BBQ!

You do not take raw slabs of ribs and cook them on a char broiler and serve them to customers..that's why they caution on the menu that it takes time to make your meal. Really? Since when is BBQ cooked to order?

Their St. Louis ribs were inedible...the baby backs were barely edible. The corn bread was dry and tasteless. I contend the baked beans were B&B and right out of the can!

I have eaten "Q" in a lot of places in this coutnry and this was without a doubt the worst representation of one of our country's great culinary contributions. If you know what real BBQ is, you need to run as fast as you can in the other direction of this place.

“Best dinner in Blowing Rock!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2008

We loved the BBQ (NC style smoked in a pit out back) so much that during our 3 days in Blowing Rock, we had carryout for 3 dinners and 1 lunch. It was truly amazing!!! ALL the locals from miles around must come here, because the parking lot is full at all times. We could have eated in, because there were always tables free, but we chose to take out to eat on our deck with a view. The "chopped chicken" was different than anything I have ever had. We loved it! The pulled pork was amazing, but the regular coleslaw was the best I have ever, ever had! I never tried their special "BBQ coleslaw" though. Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!
