“Great New Year's”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

As a chance of pace, fiancé and I decided to head up to the mountains for end of year getaway. Booked room #6 for two nights (12/30 - 12/31). Could not have asked for a better place to stay - Inn was just a block from Main Street. Staff was courteous, professional, and showered us with service and smiles. Room was clean and had a nice combination of old charm and new updates (bathroom/shower). Bed was great and winter comforter was amazing. Fully stocked bar with a nice wine selection. Restaurant open all day, serving 3 full meals (we ate breakfast first morning - excellent!). Owner and staff were genuinely invested in making each individual customer feel at home. Paid attention to the small details, and to us, got it all right. We will absolutely be back for a visit and would recommend New Public House without hesitation.

We have stayed at this location for several years when it was Crippens. The new owners have done a great job paining and generally updating the property. The colors are much warmer as are the furnishings and we love the changes. The staff was most accommodating and friendly, which along with the Inn updates made for a great weekend. Already made our reservations for next year!

We've stayed in this hotel for years prior to the new owners purchasing it this year. This past weekend we were lucky enough to stay again for our annual trip to shop and buy Christmas trees. The owners completely changed everything in the Inn and it is simply GORGEOUS!! We were all amazed! New furnishings, decor, linens, everything new and tastefully done. Staff is so friendly and anxious to accommodate you with whatever you need. We dined with them Fri evening and it was delicious! Cannot say enough wonderful things about this newly remodeled Inn and all of the staff, manager & owner!! We have already reserved our rooms for next year.

Room Tip: Several rooms have separate sitting rooms with flat screen TV's & furniture. Excellent for c...

We've stayed at this hotel, prior to the change to the new owners, for the past four years to get our Christmas tree. This year, we were heading to a mountain cottage, but the fog in Blowing Rock was so bad, we were forced to stop and hope we could get a room at our favorite Blowing Rock inn. Wow, what a great ending to a tough drive! The inn is completely redone and the rooms are beautiful. The restaurant is also completely redone and it is fantastic! My wife is an interior designer and she was so excited with the look and the incredibly comfortable beds, furniture and spa-like baths. We needed two rooms as we were with our kids and both were outstanding. Dinner that night (couldn't even think of driving anywhere else), was out of this world. This is now a must stop if you are heading to Blowing Rock -either for the night or just for a meal. GREAT JOB!

Stumbled onto this little gem by accident... newly renovated with a wonderful restaurant and bar. The room was amazing, relaxing and soothing decor and amazing bathroom. Towels and linens were luxurious. Loved being right in downtown within walking distance of shops and the park. This Inn has old world charm with all the modern immensities. Wonderful new addition to Blowing Rock.

We happended to be the first to stay at this lovely Inn! The rooms were large and so comfortable.
Everything was an upgrade to the usual Inn experience but still had the feel that you hope for when you go to the mountains. The beds were so comfortable and the towels and linens were top of the line. The location cound'nt have been more convienent to downtown Blowing Rock and I will be staying here anytime I get to come for a visit!

I would like to preface this by saying that I only rarely write reviews on websites. It must be an exceptionally good or bad experience to be worth my time to alert strangers. With that said, I feel the need to share the wonderful weekend I spent with my girlfriend at The New Public House.

First, the rooms were immaculate. I wasn't sure initially what to expect due to their recent opening (I knew I was taking a chance on booking there), but everything was quite clean and tidy. The decor was very nice though it could use some splashes of bold color. The quality of the room was greatly appreciated as we were both tired from a long drive and looking for a place that was more economical compared to other places in the area.

Perhaps the biggest surprise for us was the attached restaurant downstairs...their porch was ideal for listening to Music on the Lawn next door and sipping drinks. We were so comfortable and relaxed that we didn't even wander over. Instead, we had several delightful small plates of food. We finished our evening walking two blocks up to the main downtown drag and surveying the people and stores.

The next morning started with breakfast downstairs (I had yogurt with homemade granola and berries...perfect) and then strolled over to a coffee shop before hitting the trails. It was ideal and the weather could not have been better. That night we took it easy and tried the other half of the menu that we missed the night before.

With all of that, I don't know what the inn will be like when it is full. We count ourselves as lucky to have found this gem in the middle of the mountains and hope to return soon.
