“Good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2011

We were able to book this hotel for much less than anything else in the area so we couldn't pass it up. The first night was $62 but second night was $89 (friday's are considered weekends). It is located just a quick 2 minute drive to Historic Blowing Rock but not a walkable area as the hotel sits on the main road with lots of traffic.

Check in was easy and quick we arrived around 4pm. The room is a typical holiday inn decorated room. Good bed and I liked the soft and firm options for pillows on the bed (2 of each). Good sized bathroom with decent water pressure. We really liked that the room had a small refrigerator and microwave.

They offer free Wi-fi so that is always a plus. The breakfast was good. The options were eggs, sausage, gravy and biscuits as well as bagels, toast, english muffins etc.

One thing we were not impressed with was the pool. Not very large, indoors and no hot tub in the hotel.

All in all for the price we paid this was a great choice. There are other wonderful places to stay in the area but you will pay a much higher price for those. If price was no object I would recommend but if you travel on a budget this hotel is a great choice.

Great location

Our trip was a combination of business and pleasure. Very disappointed in the fact that the wi-fi was not working, since we needed to check for important e-mails. The staff had a so what attitude and did not seem to care that there was no wi-fi.

We travel to the Blowing Rock - Boone area on a regular basis, but will not stay at this hotel again.

Really clean and welcoming hotel. Close to great restaurants and shopping. Breakfast is better than your average "free breakfast", biscuits n gravy. The cinnamon buns were awesome. Plenty of green areas to walk pets.

This hotel has very nicely appointed rooms. My husband took advantage of the complimentary breakfast and reported that it was quite good. My only criticism is that we were initially put in a first floor room on the front of the hotel and our view was of a very dark gray concrete retaining wall. Granted, there aren't really ANY views at this hotel but this room was depressing with almost no natural light on a sunny blue sky day. The front desk clerk very obligingly put us on the top floor facing the back and although the view was of a parking lot it was much brighter and pleasant. Don't hesitate to request another room if you're not satisfied with the one assigned to you. Good value - we booked through Orbitz and paid $70 including taxes.

The lobby wreaked of paint when you walked in the lobby. They must have just opened or redecorated, saw lots of boxes. The lobby and staff seemed sterile, not friendly at all. The breakfast area is huge compared to most others I have visited. Hot items, large selection of food.

Indoor pool but not sure if it's heated. Great workout area. Close to the downtown area, easy to get around and free parking at hotel. Parking area can accomodate cars and buses.

I love Holiday Inns- They usually have clean rooms and comfortable beds as this one did- but two mornings in a row the hot water was out in my room:( and the first night the wifi was not working- one computer in the lobby which was overrun by kids playing video games. We came back to the room the second night to find the wifi was up and running. (yeah) I'm actually sitting in the room now with wet hair with shampoo in it waiting for maintenance to see if they can figure out why there's no hot water??? There explanation yesterday was - due to high demand..... And today no explanation just that the maintenance man was there. Also if planning to stay here- this is a pet friendly motel so plan to see quite a few of mans best friends. The hotel was booked- the breakfast bar was great. There should have been more staff at the breakfast bar as the poor girls were struggling to keep food and extras replenished and tables were not being cleaned as neither was the breakfast bar. Housekeeping didn t clean the old coffee out of the pot or the filter from the previous day.... This was a days inn about a year ago and it has since been remodeled. The interior looks nice and is up to Holiday Inn standards, but the rest--- felt like Days Inn--- give them time - I hope things will improve in the future and have a nice trip - wherever you plan to stay

I didn’t know what to expect from a small town hotel however, my family and I where pleasantly surprise by the facilities. We opted for the bigger room, which had its own sitting area with a half bath. The half bath and the extra area come in handy when it is time to get ready. The boys enjoyed the heated pool. You get a lot for your money. FYI if you need anything Ben is the man to talk to about it. This guy has an answer for every situation.
