I have been craving a muffaletta for months now, and when we were looking for a place to eat in Black Mountain, I saw the menu online and decided right away this was the place for us. We were seated right away and service was very prompt. Our sandwiches were DELICIOUS (muffaletta and a turkey & pesto). We also had a nice chat with the owners on our way out. Black Mountain as a whole was also a great place to visit, lots of worthwhile shops and easily walked.

Overall - a unique lunch spot which I highly recommend.

Wonderful food and great cafe feel. The Grilled Cheese with Tomato was the best!

This place is a little gem. It was recommended by a store employee in Black Mountain and it lived up to its reputation. We had a ham and cheese pannini, soup (home made), and a turkey sandwich, sugar free chocolate pie, with two ice teas. Everything was just scrumptuous, even the ice tea tased great. The service was also fabulous. Price was also very good, $25 with tip. The restaurant is convenient to the shopping in Black Mountain. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area!

We happened on this restaurant and shop during a day trip to Black Mountain from our reserved condo in Lake Lure, and were so impressed we made a point to back track out of our way to eat there again on the day we were scheduled to leave the mountains. Someone had suggested a pizza place down the way, which we traipsed to and found closed, so by the time we hit the Verandah, we were starving. We entered the quaint and open shop from the front, which showcases a selection of gift items, and were asked politely to wait by a nice young waitress. It took a few minutes to get a table, but oh my God, was it worth it! The food is awesome! Whether salad with homemade dressing, or a lunch sandwich, the meal arrived fresh, attractively served and delicious. And all the time you are eating, staring at you from the front counter, sit the beautifully decadent homemade desserts. Chocolate chocolate cake, served in a huge slice, was really the only thing I will ever taste that can possibly be better than heaven. My husband fell in love with the Italian creme cake , which he had on the second trip (and waited 20 minutes for the cook to hand write the recipe for- like I am ever going to cook such a delectable item). He and my son were groaning with pleasure on both trips at their different desserts, while I sat in absolute delight savoring the two different chocolate desserts I had during our trip. No one should miss this place. The staff are wonderful, and act as though everyone is equally important, and could probably answer any question asked about the area. There is a verandah area in back we found on our seceond trip that is beautiful and romantic and not to be missed, plus the cute puppy tea pitcher my 12 year old had to buy me to add to my teapot collection made it even more satisfying. We loved the area so much it has become our desire to one day retire to Black Mountain and run a gift and craft shop in the downtown area and breed beautiful golden retrievers there. We only hope the Verandah will still be there when we do.
