“Great Listening Room”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Owners are extremely knowledgeable about music and about sound, and have created a wonderful space for intimate listening. They take great care in booking a variety of acts, and are also very committed to "giving back" by hosting wonderful benefits.

“Great venue in Black Mountain”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I have visited the White Horse probably a dozen times in the last few years. It is primarily a performance site in what once was an automotive repair shop. Now with a stage and table seating, it provides a nice venue for a wide range of acts, from great country and western, bluegrass, jazz, rock, classical, and Celtic. Credit must be given to the owners/mangers who book a wonderfully eclectic range of performers. By the way, they are very friendly and usually on site for performances. Take a moment to look in the ticketing area at the display of gold and platinum records which the owners acquired when they managed some very well-known acts.

The bar (no food, but there are eateries in the area and food can be brought in, in many cases) offers a good range of local and national brews and wines. Overall, the atmosphere is very laid back; the audience is close to the stage; the sound system is good. During hot, hot days or evenings, the interior can get warm, but there is often some limited outside seating where the music can be heard, if views of the stage are a bit restricted. Usually there is plenty of free parking beside the venue or across the street. It is handicapped accessible

I recommend checking the White Horse website to see the performance schedule.

“Enjoyed the intimate atmosphere”

We saw Dave LaMotte. The seating was close to the stage and made for a comfy intimate setting for the audience.

“Good Music and Fun Venue”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

On a rainy 4th of July weekend in Black Mountain, I happened onto the website for White Horse which was featuring an Independence Day Celebration for the evening with the Blue Ridge Orchestra. It was a wonderful evening of beautiful music in this unique venue. Glad we arrived early to pick out special seats. The Blue Ridge Orchestra was excellent! The White Horse is a great place to go and enjoy a variety of music. It was truly a special and memorable evening! If you are in the Black Mountain area be sure to check it out. The website gives good information on attractions/musicians that will be performing. A casual setting where you can choose to relax on a couch or sit in a chair. They do serve beer and wine, plus they have a food truck for those seeking a bite to eat. The owner was around the entire time and most congenial.
