A surprisingly original menu for a small town. Atmosphere is casual, service appropriately attentive. A super deal on the wine; buy a bottle at the local wine shop - pretty good selection- and the corkage fee is waived. The heirloom tomato caprese salad was combined with a fresh succotash/bacon mix, the fresh basil was very aromatic. This small plate served 2 as an appetizer. The chicken marsala was robust and flavorful. The filet with bordelaise was in contrast just OK as was the bread pudding dessert. We would go back if ever through Black Mountain.

When you review the menu, all of the entrees sound like "specials"! Very gormet without the gormet price attached. I love the Redfish Hal with the lump crabmeat and tasty sauce. They have a few outside dining spots when the weather is nice.

Food was fresh and wonderful, service attentive but not overly so, good wine list, interesting intrepretations of Southern cuisine and other delicacies. Only challenge was tables are tightly spaced and not two person, romantic evening friendly. Still a great experience.

Outstanding food, good service, we had a great time!! We went there with friends, had several small plates and everything was great. You have to try the shrimp bisque and the tomato salad.

Located in a small strip mall is one of the best restaurants in western North Carolina. The chef and his wife comprise the dynamic duo that bring a symphony of fresh flavors from the first course through the dessert course. The daily specials cover a wide range of options, making it difficult to choose. Whatever is your choice, you cannot go wrong. This reviewer's suggestion is to save room for dessert - homemade by the chef's wife. A full bar is available along with a small excellent wine list. Wait staff are pleasant and extremely helpful. If you pass up this restaurant, you will have missed one of the best parts of NC mountain delights.
