“Some of the best food outside of Charlotte, bad service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

I only gave this restaurant an average rating because of the lack of attention the owners/management give to the service of their restaurant. The food is amazing. We love to go to this restaurant for lunch or nice evening on the patio. It is small but that is part of why we like the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the last three or four times we have been here, the service is just horrible. I know things happen, and large groups can overwhelm a small restaurant but really???? The last two visits my husband had to convince me to go back to give them another try and both times we said we would not go back.

It's really sad considering it's the best food outside of Charlotte. Even people I work with that love going to the String Bean have had the same experiences. I wish they could get it together and hire another waiter/waitress or two.

If you do decide to try, a few of the best things are: The Big Green Monster appetizer, the buffalo burger, and the fried oreos desert.

“Cute place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

The food was not nearly as good as I expected after hearing so many good things about the restaurant. The people who ordered burgers, liked them. The Boom Boom Shrimp was good. The BLFT was dry. We had a reservation that was not dealt with properly and our waitress was not good. The place is really cute though.

“Rescued us from a disaster”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

One of the local hotels completely dropped the ball and forgot to arrange for a caterer for a group event I was leading and eventually they sent us to The String Bean. This restaurant and it's staff we're great. While we completely overwhelmed them with our numbers and all arriving at once the staff did their absolute best to take care of us. The food was excellent and the beer selection was wonderful.

Thank you to the staff of The String Bean for taking care of our families and saving us from a disastrous evening.

I highly recommend anyone visiting Belmont to make sure to stop by this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

“Love the food and the outside seating.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012 via mobile

Love the casual laid back atmosphere. Great takes on traditional foods. Reasonably priced. The burgers, wraps, salads, apps and desserts are all good. My only complaint from this particular trip was that the waitress encouraged us to try the duck fat fries with our meal instead of a regular side item. She failed to inform us it was a $2 up charge.

“A distinct different option, choose your seafood, cut of beef, etc...Take home to prepare or choose your own cut & they will pre”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2012 via mobile

A must option in such a quaint little village lined with mansions of days gone by, all well kept along with tiny unique shops each unique, & worth at least a stroll of window shopping. The restaurant is different in that you can choose your ingredients to prepare at home or pick your cut of beef for them to prepare & serve with hospitality! It is small but they also offer outdoor dining where you feel on vacation in a gem of tiny Belmont which is just minutes from the I-state & the hustle of chain restaurants found in any city. Steak & pasta dishes were very good with friendly staff to assist in your choice of beer or wine options. Very worth the extra 5 minute drive for a taste of something different!
