“Delightful Inn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014

My husband and I spent Easter weekend at the Beaufort Inn and it was our first visit in several years. We had a waterfront room with a nice porch although it was too cold and rainy to use. Large room with a king-sized bed, microwave and good size refrigerator. Comfortable arm chair and plenty of light. The only disappointment about the Beaufort Inn is the breakfast, which I have always found to be a little lacking. Very convenient location to downtown restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Try for a room overlooking the water. In good weather, you can sit on the porch and watch the boats...

Our first time in Beaufort and the Inn was well situated for an easy stroll to town. We opted for a water side room but unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy sitting on the porch. The room was spacious with a king sized bed, two comfortable arm chairs and plenty of lamps. There was little traffic on the water so it was quiet though you can easily hear walking in the room above. I would have to agree with some of the other reviewers that the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired given the cost of the room. I would describe it as a "micro-wave breakfast" (and, no toast was offered only English muffins that required a toaster). Maybe they don't have a stove but could still cook a few hard boiled eggs at home and keep them in the refrigerator to serve guests. There was a bit of a scramble in the morning as the waitresses tried to control the seating. Really not necessary. Given the meal, a better approach might be to set up a buffet much as the chain hotels do with toaster, microwave, fruit bowl, juice and cereals and let people serve themselves. The woman checking us out in the morning was very friendly and thanked us for coming but was clearly juggling a lot of tasks.

By the time a friend and I arrived at the Beaufort Inn, she was sick and couldn't eat dinner, but thought she could keep down some chicken noodle soup. The woman behind the desk was moderately helpful about suggesting places where I might find some. I brought a can back from the grocery store. The inn has microwaves right there near the desk. Would she heat up the soup for me so I could feed my sick friend? Absolutely not -- it was against policy. What terrible customer service, and what a lousy attitude toward a guest who was clearly hurting.
Beyond that, the location of the inn is great, very near the main drag and right next to the river. Our room was fairly average, with a nice flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and a coffeemaker (which I eventually used to heat up water for the soup -- not ideal). The bed was comfortable. I liked the small balcony, where we could sit out and watch the boats go by. Breakfast -- well, I am baffled by other reviewers' raves. The coffee is not great. The "French toast" is basically bread with a little egg -- dry and tasteless. (Thank you, Beaufort Inn, for serving real butter, which made the toast taste better -- I mean that sincerely.) The "breakfast pie" is a quiche with sausage and cheese that is off the charts in terms of sodium. Pastries looked pre-packaged. Best bet would be to get cereal or to go elsewhere, even though breakfast is included in the room price. Would I stay there again? I'm torn, but thinking I might give it one more try because the location is so ideal.

Room Tip: A room next to the river gives a nice view but comes with a little extra noise, so light sleepers mi...

We are sorry that you are disappointed in your stay with us. I know your first night I recommended places that may have a non-seafood soup, but as far as the second night, I am unsure why the girl did not allow you to heat up your friends soup, and this issue will be addressed.

We do make our breakfast pie homemade and do not add any salt into it so the salt comes from the cheese and sausage but no extra added. For those who do want a made to order breakfast, we do have some local restaurants we recommend.

We are glad that you enjoyed your room, and balcony and do hope that you try us again in the future.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn on our way home from Williamsburg Va. The room was clean but outdated and the air conditioner drove us nuts while trying to sleep. We tried to sit on the balcony, which was a nice view of the water, however it was very noisy with the bridge going up and down and fisherman making repairs to their boats. Breakfast was pre packaged (small ) but enough to hold you over till lunch. Would not stay again. Room #318.

Room Tip: If you go stay on 3rd floor away from the bridge.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us here in Beaufort. We cannot control the noise from any of our neighbors, but the bridge and fishermen are a way of life for our community.

As far as breakfast, we do make a homemade breakfast pie. Breakfast is complimentary but we are able to recommend local restaurants.

Our first time in Beaufort. Staff are very friendly and accommodations are very good. Excellent view of water; we saw a dolphin swim by. In addition, a number of boats pass by of every size and shape. Close to historic district and you can walk there from the Inn. Would stay here again.

We have stayed in this Inn three times now and every time has been very comfortable. It is not luxurious but provided everything we needed-we had a Junior Suite which is basically a roomy bedroom with ensuite bathroom and then a fridge, microwave and coffee machine which was all we needed to store our milk and sandwich supplies. Breakfast offers cereal, yoghurt, cooked apple, muffins, a slice of breakfast quiche and juices ,tea or coffee-my only request might be for oatmeal to be offered (the instant variety would be acceptable -it was very cold when we were there and it would have been a warming start to the day for me). The balcony provides perfect view of the water way, the fishing boats and the pelicans!!! It is an easy walk to the main street and restaurants, the historic houses and cemeteries etc but far back enough from these to maintain peace and quiet too.

Room Tip: We would always choose a top floor room as we did notice footsteps last summer when we had a room ab...

I recently stayed here at the recommendation of a friend and was quite disappointed. The furnishings are a little tired and are in need of a change in decor. The rooms, as well as "sitting/breakfast area" have not been updated in 30 plus years. The breakfast items were all pre packaged, i.e. muffins (very small) and quiche. The quiche had sausage in it, so that was out of the question for us. The cereal didn't even fill the bowl we had. I'm sure it was one of those small boxes you get in some lower-end hotels. The buffet breakfast at Holiday Inn Express has much more to offer.

There were two waitresses/desk clerks. It was quite obvious that one of them appeared that she would rather have been somewhere else than serving people breakfast.

I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
