We came to the Crystal Coast off season (October) and this place was recommended for Sunday Brunch - we were seated right away on their lovely porch overlooking the water and had fabulous "Eggs New Orleans" - poached eggs on yummy crab cakes with a tasty hollandaise sauce. Great service, great view - terrific staff. If we had more time, we would have come back for lunch and dinner.

First: this is a very good spot. We ate here the night before we went to the Front Street Grill. It is more casual than Front Street and while the drinks were superb (go, Frank!), the food and service were not quite up to what we had at its next-door neighbor.

The Spouter Inn is at the western end of Front St, just down from the Watercraft Center, right on the water. It has a bakery near the front door, then down the hall is a nice inside seating area and then the outdoor area, with a great view of Taylor Creek where it connects to the channel leading to Beaufort Inlet. There are a couple of short docks available.

We have eaten there several times in the past month. The food was very good each time. At dinner we had soft-shell crabs which were prepared very well (very easy to do badly) with a light batter and a spicy sauce for dipping. The veggies were good also, as was the Cesar salad. We also had crab cakes which were delicious and meaty. At lunch we had an Out Island sandwich with shimp and a crab and corn chowder. The sandwich was great, but the chowder was really excellent--decent amount of crab, thick and just the right amount of spicy. They have several good beers on draft including Yuengling. Also got a decent margarita there.

We did not get dessert, but heard that the bakery that is at the entrance has good selections. Should have gotten dessert to go.

The waitstaff is very professional, although some of the staff was not as friendly as others. That's a small quibble for a restaurant with a lot going for it. We will return!

Good food, good view, what more could you want. The seafood was fresh and prepared with a light hand, no overpowering flavors, just wonderfully subtle tastes everywhere,

My wife and I had a weekday lunch after walking around the Beaufort waterfront. Decided on this place based on reviews. Good choice. We each had a different seafood pasta dish off the lunch menu. Both were seasoned well and the portion generous. We also had a piece of pie each(peanutbutter, chocolate) and it was awesome. Service was great too. Outside dining was full, so we ate inside at a window table. Still a nice view. Everything looked newly painted and nicely decorated. Will be back here again when we vacation in the area.
