We had dinner at the Cedar's Inn on a Thursday night. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The steamed mussels we had as an appetizer were amazing. I had the tuna and my husband chose the grouper special. He is not a big grouper fan but decided to give it a try. He thought the way it was prepared certainly changed his mind. The only disappointment was the portions are so large I could not eat it all! The Inn is also beautiful. We will definitely go back on our next trip.

Wife and I love the cuisine. Each plate we selected was very good. Dislike, was the drinks, very limited and we order a cosmo, cost of the drink is not in line with what we got. Next time we will dine and hold off on the drinks.

We have a home in Beaufort, and have walked by this Inn several times, but had never heard anything about it. Made a reservation- and were wowed. It is a house- with small separate dining rooms that are sparely, but very tastefully furnished. The menu was exactly right- large enough to provide choice, limited enough to allow each dish to be exquisitely done- not a wrong note. The service is friendly, but not crushingly familiar, and excellent. We have friends from Europe visiting this August, and are taking them there as an example of excellent American cuisine, impeccably served. I'm just glad we finally found it!!

A friendly welcome got the meal off to a good start. The service was fine throughout the meal though the chef came out of the kitchen with our bowl of mussels looking for a server to take it to the right table. Given the smallness of the restaurant the waitress explained that everyone steps in to help. Our waitress was behind the bar mixing a drink so some else delivered the mussels. Not sure how this casual approach works on a busy Sat night in high season. That said, our mussels were very tender with a few bits of artichoke on top, the trigger fish perfectly cooked (though served on shrimp and grits made for a heavy dish which didn't work for me) and hubby's lamb shank was very tender. Vegetables are cooked very al dente. Fine for us but some people but not like nearly raw veggies. Prices are moderately on the high side but servings are large. Only downside is that there are no vegetarian options. One would have to make do with soup and a salad. We spoke to a couple at the next table who live in a nearby town and they said that they have been coming here regularly over the past few years and it is one of their favorite

We were guests of another couple last night. The trigger fish was wonderful, service friendly and top notch, and very nice atmosphere. The onion soup was outstanding. This was our first visit and we will be back. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity.
