Owner description: North Carolina's third oldest town, Beaufort lies on the coast bordering the southern tip of the Outer Banks. Originally a fishing village and port of safety dating from the late 1600's, Beaufort has been visited by patriots, privateers, merchants, and skilled craftsmen who built Bahamian and West Indian style homes and public buildings. On the Beaufort Historic Site, you can take advantage of the six professionally restored buildings, tour the Old Burying Grounds, and take a tour aboard a vintage English Double Decker Bus. Beaufort, NC truly is where history meets the sea.

Great spot to visit and spend a little time when on Emerald Isle or Atlantic Beach...or even in Morehead City. We stop whenever nearby!

“St Helena's Church”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2012

They are having a 300th anniversary this year. Located centrally, the church is outstanding with lots of original pieces from the 1700's. Fascinating cemetery in the churchyard, filled with confederate and union solder graves. Many of the headstones have a descriptive nature to them. Well worth a visit. Just one of the many reasons to visit this great southern city filled with magnificent homes and wonderfully friendly people.

“Good peak at old village life.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2012

When we went the buildings weren't opened because there was a "craft fair" type of event going on outside. We were able to look around and see inside the building, really interesting to see in the old appothacary. The other historic buildings around town and the old cemetery were also worth the stop.

“Seaside Village Bliss:)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2012

Love Beaufort! Peaceful, calm, quaint little village along the water. Plenty of small shops, bakery, places to eat and enjoy the view of the water. Lots of history, things to see. If you want a slow paced, relaxing getaway this is the perfect place to visit for a weekend or week.
