“Great fun!”

We went to Backstreet Pub one night after dinner at Clawsons. Small pub, but very lively and great fun!

“A local hangout”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2012

This small pub is a favorite of the locals. With a variety of beer, TVs downstairs, outdoor seating, and an upstairs area where bands play, the place is great. There is no liquor and don't bother ordering any wine here -- stick with the beer. The bar staff can be less than friendly, but the prices are good and it's a fun place. Music upstairs is great (there's usually a $3 cover at the door on nights when there are bands -- often Fridays and Saturdays) but can be too loud to have a conversation, so move downstairs or outside if you want to chat.

“Great little Beaufort Pub.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

A small place in an old brick building set back behind Front street. They have decent beers on tap at decent prices (and all sorts of bottles) and a cozy fireplace that's unbeatable in the winter. Usually only a few others in there during the day. Sometimes bands outside on the patio or upstairs. If you're significant other is shopping in Beaufort, park yourself here for a while. Never been dissappointed at Backstreets.

“Worth going to for the ambience!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2011

I rated this very good purely and simply because it is like no other! They have a good selection of beer, and during the winter it is sooo cozy with the big fireplace and huge old wooden bar. During the summer it is fun to sit in the little courtyard, especially when there is entertainment. Plus, the people who go there are of interest--crusty sailors, locals, a variety of dogs, and the occasional tourist.

“You don't wanna miss this pub!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2011

Going into Backstreet Pub is like stepping back in time. You get the feeling that Blackbeard and his crew are gonna be coming in at any minute. And sometimes Pirates DO come in. There's an enclosed courtyard with tables and live music when the weather permits, and music upstairs at other times. It's located on Middle Lane, behind Clawsons.

The place has a real, Old World charm....and it's an excellent place to meet with old friends or to make new ones.....The brews are cold and the staff is friendly and interesting. There's no food sold here, but snacks or hot soup is in the pot for the sharing. Lately there's been tables full of hot steamed oysters for shucking. It's almost like being crew members on an 18th century sailing ship. Don't miss Backstreet Pub!!!
