Many facinating exhibits can be found here. There is no admission charge and on a hot day, this is a great place to visit while in Beaufort.

We were pleasantly surprised with the depth and variety of displays. This is not a ten-minute attraction. If you like nautical history you will be rewarded. Plan to spend an hour or two. Definitely a gem and reason enough to visit Beaufort.

A small but well appointed museum with very interesting displays. If you have young children they will be interested for about 30 minutes as there isn't really hands-on activities. Readers will be interested much longer, especially if you talk about things like the amazing ways that the Life Savers rescued sailors from shipwrecks or the process by which a sperm whale skeleton was prepared for display.

I thought the Queen Anne's Revenge display was quite thorough in information - there really aren't that many artifacts that survived all those years under very rough seas. The diorama explaining how the wreck site is surveyed was fascinating - but I'm an archeo-geek like that.

Something hubby and I enjoyed was the VERY well appointed library with comfy chairs for reading. I read some fascinating articles in some museum trade/curatorial magazines. I really needed a cushioned armchair to sit in and rest my feet after a long walking day and hubby actually laid down on the couch and took a ten minute nap - shhhh don't tell!

Went mainly to see Queen Ann's Revenge which was recently found just off shore. Very quaint, but nice. Not many artifacts from the ship on display yet. Thought there would be much more on the ship wrecks in general given the coastline is known for that. All in all, worth a visit if you've got time and are nearby. Wouldn't make a special trip from anywhere of any distance.
