Emphasis was on Blackbeard with a looonnnngg PBS-type video (we watched a good bit but then left). A lot of artifacts are on display from the discovery. and though I'm not into boats I found the other information pretty interesting.

Our kids love going to the Maritime Museum during our week stay at the beach. The new Blackbeard exhibit was a big hit!

We came to see the burying ground but were encouraged to visit the museum by the visitor center staff based on it's pirate exhibit and whale skeleton for the kids. We were pleasantly surprised by free admission, an interesting look at the marine culture of the region and very pleased with our reception at the door. The greeter gave us information about two of the main exhibits and provided the kids with a clipboard and scavenger hunt that thames LOVED! The two bus, 6 and 7, were actively engaged and were excited to receive their pirate handstamp after finding all the items on the sheet. The museum is well maintained, informative and well suited for kids! A great beach break distraction!

We visited on Saturday June 30 and the staff were are great. they had a fun activity for kids that was a scavenger type hunt and they received stamps/stickers for completing. This helped keep my 6 year old engaged. for a free museum, they do a good job with local maritime history. The Blackbeard Queen Anns Revenge exhibit was very good.

Come take a look at everything you may want to know about boating along the banks of North Carolina and take a look at some of pirate Blackbeard's loot retrieved from the Queen Anne's Revenge!
