The meat was very dry and there was not any thousand island dressing. This was a take out. This used to be a good restaurant but it is not as g00d as it used to be

Located just off the main intersection in Banner Elk (you know, right by the ONLY stoplight in town), the deli is rustic, and a firm supporter of Lees McRae considering the wall decor of jerseys and photos. Whether it's a breakfast sandwich or one of their famous sandwiches made with Boar's Head meats and cheeses, you can't go wrong. Mike Dunn has his finger on the pulse of the community and serves up what everybody wants. Fresh coffee in the morning, soda in cans and bottles, plus a good selection of beer make for a satisfying meal every time.

Beers for a $1 a glass, Boars Head meats in all the sandwiches, delicious soups, creative and interesting daily specials for sandwich selections, what’s not to like?

The place looks like your typical college “go to” sandwich shop. The college is across the street. It’s got the local college logos as well as other sports logos hanging on shirts and posters in the walls. The TV is always on and the grill is always hot. The place isn’t as upscale or near/clean as some would like (no AC when we were there and a bit stuffy inside) but It isn’t dirty either. It’s a sandwich shop, what can I say. For those who find it stuffy, there is ample outside seating with umbrella tables where you can enjoy the feast air and the local street scene.

For the best sandwich shop in Banner Elk, Dunn’s Deli is the place to go.
I had the Reuben. So good!!
My friends enjoyed a turkey and bacon wrap and a half sized Italian. The portions were very generous (especially satisfactory to the younger clientele with big appetites) and served quickly with a pickle and a smile.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch as it was recommended to us when we were renting our ski equipment. It was quick, cozy, and absolutely delicious!
