This would be a great restaurant in any city in the country. Food, service atmosphere are all outstanding. Expensive, but worth every penny.

This wonderful restaurant is tucked up next to the exclusive Diamond Creek private Golf Club. The atmosphere is pure North Carolina rustic mixed with opulence. Our first time there, we dined with a large group for a birthday party which was hosted downstairs in the wine cellar. This was a unique and lovely experience! Service is definitely first class but in NO WAY stuffy! The food is very creative and delicious. The appetizers are especially good - the calamari was the best I have ever eaten (not like the rubbery stuff you've had before) ! We also had the grouper which was tender and flaky, with a delicious sauce that was perfection.

We returned a few days later and dined in the main, upper dining room and had an equally wonderful experience. The roasted corn salad was notable. I had the pasta Bolognese which was absolutely divine! Their wine list is extensive and they brought different ones to have with each course. At the end of the meal, we were served a tasting tray of desserts that were scrumptious!

The terrace outside by the beautiful creek is also a great place to have cocktails. Yes, this is expensive but it is definitely worth the fare. Save it for a special occasion or splurge but do NOT MISS this wonderful treat!

Artisanal is one of those restaurants where you don't simply have a good meal, you have an exceptional experience.

The location is beautiful, set among rolling hills you feel like you are on a genteel horse farm rather than at a restaurant. When you arrive, you are immediately greeted by the valet and as you step out of your car, the massive doors of this beautiful restaurant are held open for you.

Inside, the restaurant is warm and absolutely beautiful. Rustic, yet elegant, with comfy semi-circular booths, a beautiful and open kitchen, and large rustic chandeliers creating the perfect glow. Sometimes, in a fine restaurant, I find the wait staff to be rather pretentious, but this was not the case. Our waiter was relaxed and friendly and made us feel right at home.

The cocktails are pricey, but very inventive and unique and worth the price. The spiced pear mojito was especially good. Cocktails were $12 to $16. There was an extensive fine wine list and also a very nice list of wines by the glass, ranging from $8 to $12.

While waiting, our waiter brought us yeast rolls and the world's most adorable mini cornbread. The cornbread was incredible.

The "small plates" are are actually quite large. We had the soft shell crab and the seafood bouillabaise. Both were extremely good. The entrees were equally good, and the portions were large enough to be satisfying without being so large that we didn't have the opportunity to try several courses. We had the Maine Diver Scallops and the Pasta Bolognese and both were outstanding. For dessert, we had the trio of chocolate cupcakes. They were fantastic!

With 3 cocktails and a glass of wine, our cocktail bill was $52. With 2 small plates, 2 entrees, and a shared dessert, our food bill as $98. I thought the price was very reasonably for the setting and the quality. We had more food than we can eat (I hate a fancy restaurant that serves such small portions that it leaves me hungry!!).

There is a dress code inside - no jeans, flip flops, shorts, or t-shirts and jackets are preferred for men. Not all men had on a jacket, but those that didn't were dressed very nicely in dress shirts and ties. I think jeans are allowed if you dine outside, and the outside porch looked very nice. It was beautifully set and had a creek running beside it. There was also a fire pit out there that looked pretty cozy.

I highly recommend Artisanal for a special night out or just a great meal!

We had an excellent dinner at Artisanal this weekend. The weather was perfect and we sat on the patio overlooking a running brook. Service was friendly and attentive. Between the 6 of us we tried out most of the menu. The foie gras was to die for, loved the roasted corn salad. Tuna, scallops, halibut and the steak, we had one happy table of diners. Yes it is expensive, but for us, it was worth it. I don't drink alcohol, but I was told that both cocktails and wine selection was outstanding.
