“My favorite for the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2014

This was the best meal for the weekend! We went for the weekend and did some shopping and went from Blowing Rock, Boone and then Banner Elk. This was by far was the best meal. The atmosphere was friendly, wait staff was friendly and suggested popular items. We went late and there were still lots of people sitting around the table enjoying a bottle of wine and relaxing. This is a great place to go with friends to catch up and chill

“Real Italian food in the south”

This is the real deal. Sauce is fresh and delicious. Food served hot and perfectly seasoned. I am from New York and I love this place. Save room for dessert and get the CANNOLIS.

“Very Good Italian-American Restaurant in Banner Elk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2014

Sorrento's offerings are prepared as well as in any other restaurant serving Italian-American food. The veal is actually true scallopine cuts and are very tender and flavorful and the veal Picatta was excellent. On this particular night a special of spinach and walnut-filled raviolis with either a Marinara or a white sauce. Both were delicious. Pizza was well-prepared and very tasty. Their wine offerings were limited, but an acceptable wine can be found. Service was enthusiastic but inexperienced.

“Found a New Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2014

Had a wonderful experience at Sorrento’s Bistro! Came up for the weekend looking at property and wanted to eat at Sorrento’s based on previous good reviews. Great atmosphere! Approached by the host immediately when we walked in the door and were promptly sat. We decided to try a pasta and a veal dish… both were excellent! The crab cake appetizer was delicious as well. Our servers name was Josh and what a delight he was. Very friendly and attentive and was able to answer every one of our questions including our questions about the wine list. The pace of the meal was perfect! Josh recommended that we visit next door or upstairs for an after dinner drink at one of their “sister” restaurants. We toured both and decided to sit downstairs. Unfortunately this was the only negative part of the night. We walked into Barra and were happy to see a pool table. There were a few people hanging out. We noticed the bartender behind the bar and were waiting to be greeted but that didn’t happen. We sat down at a table to order a drink while we waited on the pool table. To our surprise the bartender clearly saw us but didn’t approach us. That’s when we noticed she was too busy texting on her cell phone. At that point we realized we needed to go to the bar to receive service. To our surprise we were met with a very un-approachable attitude, almost like she was mad at us for interrupting her texting. What a difference from the way we were treated at Sorrento’s. Wasn’t able to get her name, she was an older lady with dark hair. We returned to our table and shortly after another employee walked in and immediately greeted us! What a breath of fresh air. She was so helpful and so happy. She spent time with us explaining the different businesses including a lobster and prime rib special, and even told us a little bit about the area. She said she was a relatively new employee but she was absolutely delightful! We were able to get her name… Shelley. All in all, great experience at Sorrento’s Bistro! Will be back for sure. Next time though we will go up to the Sushi restaurant for our after dinner drinks or maybe the Cajun restaurant next door since they have a pool table too.
