Description: This is an upscale bistro with a strong accent for Italian. This family business involves 3 generation of family owned and operated, with the 30 year anniversary approaching. We thank all of our local customers, and look forward to the new ones.

We go to Banner Elk about 3 times a year. This used to be my favorite, but not after our visit this week. The bread was cold, the entree's lacked freshness and flavor. The outside eating area was nice, but they could not get the table to stop rocking. The appetizer, artichokes - lightly floured with a butter sauce, was the only part of the meal worth a future visit.

Delicious. They are part owner with Banner Elk Winery and Villa. We got pasta dishes and they were exceptional. .5 mile from Winery. Right in town!

Good food and good wine selection. Large facility with extra tables in store behind. Nice evening outing.

When you call yourself an upscale Italian dining experience, I'd not have the first odor greeting your guests being that of 'fast food grade' cooking oil that's been overheated. Very noisy and chaotic atmosphere pseudo-managed by two young women either, (1) trying to walk in her shoes or, (2) adjusting her underwear through her ill-fitting dress (all done rather poorly, I might add). The waitress steered my host to an utterly forgettable and totally inappropriate bottle of wine - her job was to push the dregs, I guess. Inane excuse for bread that was undercooked. The hot entrees were served on cold plates - really!?! Waitress, a regular I was told, was completely disinterested in providing anything other than perfunctory service. On a positive note, the quality of the veal used in my dish was first-rate. What was done to it was second-rate, at best - bland and without a hint of EVOO or actual lemon juice - raw flour, yes. Scraped it off, added some seasoning, ate it, smiled and nodded. Like I said, I wasn't the host. Otherwise, there would have been hell to pay.

Four of us dined at Sorrrentos in early August. We were able to sit outside on nice covered patio. Our waitress was first class, knowledgeable about menu and specials; attentive etc. Two of us had specials (veal and a pasta dish); both of which were very large servings and two had items off the regular menu. All of us raved about our dishes. The manager came by our table to check on us as we were dining to make sure all was well. Prices were very fair for the large servings and high quality. We will gladly return the next time we are in the area. This is a restaurant you must try if you are in the area; it is that good.
