“Good deal.”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We only spent one night-went up to Banner Elk to ski. This hotel is very close to the slopes. Nice enough. The staff were friendly. Free breakfast was pretty good. All in all a nice value and location is very good.

Thank you for your response regarding our hotel. We are indeed very close to all area attractions including ski resorts, the Blue Ridge Parkway, great restaurants, etc. We take great pride in our guest service and the cleanliness of our hotel. We have just recently began including a hot buffet breakfast and we greatly appreciate the feedback. We appreciate you staying with us and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

the good thing is this is located close to sugar mountain but that is it. the walls are thin, the tub backed up, the hot water ran out, the breakfast buffet was awful, and the rate was 125 for the night. They prey on the fact that it is close to the slop but it was NOT worth the money. Stay in Boone somewhere that is new and nice.

Room Tip: rooms with two beds are TINY

Walls too thin, showers backed up, coffee gross, fridge didnt work. But bed was pretty but uncomfortable, tv was good and location was awesome. Shower was warm and room was clean. Breakfast was ok but understaffed and a little cold.

Made our reservation based on Trip Advisor reviews so wanted to add another good one. The beds were awesome. New pillow tops and comfortable. Smoke free room was really smoke free. Monday breakfast was really good, Tuesdays was a little slim hard boiled eggs. I guess I'm being the ugly american. Staff really friendly and helpful. When we arrived the heat was out at check-in so breakfast was a little chilly Monday morning but they had it fixed before we left. FYI make the coffee in the room way better than coffee with breakfast. We were there to ski and the rooms fit the bill.

Stayed here for a romantic weekend in Feburary. The hotel was fine. Close to all the slopes and friendly front desk staff. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good. We heard there was going to be music in the bar so we came back later for a few drinks. That is where the night took a bad turn. Everything was fine for the 1st hour or so. Then we noticed a confrontation going on at the other end of the bar. This went on for a little while, some shouting and namecalling. At one point it actually looked like things might get physical, so we suggested to the bartender that she might want to get the manager. We were appalled when she informed us that the loudest most intoxicated person in that confrontation was THE MANAGER!! We felt so bad for the bartender she looked so lost as to what to do. My husband and I then closed our tab and left. We were having a good time earlier but at that point did not feel it was in our best interest to stay in the bar any longer. It is shocking that the hotel would actually allow its employees, much less a manager to drink that much while working. Other than that situation it would have been a good night. The bartender was friendly, the dj played great music it is a shame that it ended that way. We hope you look into more protection for your staff. That could have ended very poorly with only one female employee working and a very intoxicated hostile manager.

The hotel appeared to have been updated since our last visit a year ago. Now, there is a complimentary breakfast. Not so great. Had we had to stay another night, I think we would have went somewhere and paid for food. Way under staffed. Food was just so so. Hallways reek of cigar / stale cigarette smoke. We stayed here because it was close to sugar mtn and it was decent last year. We have decided in the future to stay in Boone and drive. I felt sorry for the wait staff. Only two people servicing a dining room full of people. The waitress was being hassled by a creepy guy hanging out in the bar. Where was a supervisor when you needed one to protect the staff?

We had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was very helpful, also provided information about places to go for entertainment. It is a great location if you are going to Beech Mountain or Sugar mountain. Beech Mtn. is about 10-15 mins away. And Sugar 5 mins.

The room was very clean, flat screen tv, and spacious. The bathroom was very tiny and hard to get into since the door was very close to the toilet. It was a good room overall. Breakfast is warm, serving eggs, biscuits and gravy, and more. You do feel obligated to tip since there is staff picking up your plates.

I would recommend this hotel because it is in a great location, offers great commodities and amenities.
