The bar-b-que is great, but they offer a trout that is the best I have ever had. Even better than what I have caught fresh and cooked over a camp fire!!! So the addage of "...always tastes better when you are camping..." spoiled. Test me on this and let me know.

While we waited for a table and waited for our server, and waited for our food, we ended up happy. Our server - a college student - was helpful, and the pork BBQ sandwich was delicious. The sides were good, too (collard greens, cornbread pudding, sweet potato fries and corn on the cob).

This is not fine dining but decent food at a decent price. Worth a visit!

My wife and I and our two grandchildren ages eight and five went to the restaurant. The children were given crayons and a coloring sheet which also had the children menu on them. Waitress was friendly and attentive to the children's needs as well as ours. Food was good and priced reasonable. Had a nice water wheel running right outside the restaurant that we could view from our window at our table. The water driving the water wheel empted into a small pond and there was a small deck that you could walk out on and view the fish that were in the pond. Overall our experience was very good and would go back and eat there again if back in the Banner Elk area.

Met others here because of its location. We got there right at closing but they were gracious enough to serve us. The restaurant is nice and the staff efficient and friendly. The highlights were the pulled pork with a nice bark and deep smoke ring. Fried Okra was spot on and delicious. The mac and cheese was not good with a grainy taste. Skip the hush puppies which are burnt on the outside because of their size. The bbq seems good but the sides can be disappointing.

I decided to have dinner here after hiking on Grandfather Mountain. The ribs were quite good. The place looked clean and the staff was friendly.
