Taking a chance on a location that has seen five different restaurants in five years, the new Painted Fish has already proved to the area that the right menu, price and service can make the difference. The Chef/owner Tom was chef at Grandfather Country club for 10 years, and he knows how to please locals, seasonals, and weekenders alike.
I had the BLT and loved the fried green tomatoe slice that was on it, along with the included homemade fries. My wife had the mac and shrimp, an old comfort food with a new modern twist. We liked our selections so much that I can't wait until our next visit when I will have a hard time not ordering the same meal again.
We were greeted by our Hostess Heather, who was able to seat us on a busy evening even though we didn't have reservations (recommended!). The Manager, Jon, checked with us several times to be sure that all was well (it was!). You could see Chef Tom directing the kitchen as his wife, Nancy handled reservations. Our meal was finished off with the habanero cheesecake which was large enoungh to share. What a unique taste combo! Needless to say, we will be back and we will bring friends. (Oh , and they have a
beer bar with like 40 different beers, along with a wine selection). That's the "What more you can ask for!"
